I absolutely despise parties. And I hated this one just as much. By the time I got there, people were already hammered to the point of no return. Even Calab had begun to slur his speech and dance with random guys.
"Cool little get together" she said. Cool little get together my ass.
Not only was I the only sober one there, but Emma had also failed to mention to me that she had opened her pool for the party. So, I had the choice of being inside where there was drunk dancing and drug-induced makeout sessions, or being outside where there were fires about every 7 feet and and drunken idiots throwing each other into an inground pool. Neither seemed very flattering, but I chose to sit outside.
None of my friends were to be seen, there were sweaty guys (even a few girls) trying to hit on me, it was very hot and humid outside, and I was hungry.
This party sucked.
The only good thing about any of it was that I would get spritzed with pool water every once in a while, cooling me off for just a second.
This wouldn't be the case for long, though.
As I normally do when I'm in any social situation, I got out my phone to check for notifications. Everything was calm for about two minutes.. and then I felt my chair being lifted off the ground.
"What the FUCK?! Put me down!" I screamed. The guy that had grabbed me was stumbling as he walked and I just imagined him dropping me, and being that he had me above his shoulders walking across concrete, I didn't think it would be a pretty sight.
As soon as I realized where he was headed, I panicked. I tried to throw my phone into the grass, but instead it landed on the concrete. Surprisingly enough, it didn't shatter.
Seconds later, I was thrown into Emma's pool.
I heard the crowd was cheering when I swam to the surface, but I was filled with rage. The worst part was that I couldn't even tell who had done it. However, Emma saw the whole thing, and had come to aid me in recovering.
"Oh, sweety," she struggled to get out. "Come on. I have clothes. Ha, of course I have clothes, but I got some that you can wear."
She dragged me to her bedroom and took fifteen minutes to find me a pair of shorts and a t-shirt. "Here, you'll be lookin' goooood."
"God, you're so drunk," I whispered. And she was. The alcohol on her breath alone was too much for me to handle.
I started to take my wet clothes off when she stopped me. "Whoaa there cowgirl, I was just giving you clothes because you were a friend in need. Now you're stripping in front of me? If you wanted something, you could've just asked. We can-"
"You know Emma, I think I can get it from here. Thank you for the clothes, and I'm going to borrow your dryer."
"Mmkay babe. But be careful! I reccomend just using the dryer for your clothes!"
Jesus, I thought. I'm not helping with her hangover in the morning.
I put my clothes in the dryer and went back outside to find my phone. Jess had grabbed it and taken almost 100 selfies, none of them attractive, but all worth saving for future reference. I then noticed many people with food, and went on a hunt. When I found the food, I got two plates full, and sat back down outside.
I was content. I had dry clothes on, I had food, it was cooling off outside, people were leaving me alone. Things were great.
Until my chair was picked up again.
I was sitting much closer to the pool this time so I didn't have much time to react. I had to drop my plate and throw my phone into the grass, where it successfully landed and shattered.
Not many people had noticed this time, so it was easier for me to tell who did it. He was the only one jumping around and high-fiving his friends, like he had just done something remarkable.
This time I helped myself out of the pool. I went inside and grabbed my original clothes, which were luckily already dry, and walked into Emma's room to change. Except I couldn't, because there seemed to be a possible orgy going on. So I just changed in her bathroom, leaving the wet clothes on her floor.
I went downstairs, made myself a to-go plate, went outside to grab my phone with it's newly shattered screen, and left.

The walk home was, as expected, not the best. My hair was still wet from the wonderful pool experiences and the fact that my phone actually cracked was setting in.I made it about two miles down the road before it started to get dark outside. I was not about to walk alone when it was dark. I enjoy my innocence.
As much as I hated the thought of it, I called my dad.
"What, did your designated driver start drinking because you showed up?"
"Dad, please. It's late and I'm tired. I'm on the corner of Main and 7th. Please just come get me."
"Alright, I'm pulling out of the driveway. I'll be there shortly. Love you."
"Yeah," and with that, I hung up and sat down. The bench was close to some church people who seemed to be having some type of party.
It sounded like they were having fun. I'm glad somebody had fun tonight. Because I sure as hell didn't.

There was an awkward silence in the car when my dad came and picked me up. I wanted to ask what my stepmom thought about the situation, but decided against it."So.. did Jaylee get to go skating?" I asked.
"Yeah, and she's staying the night with Alissa. Did you want to stay with somebody tonight?"
"No. I think I've already established that I would like to go home."
"Okay, Kali, something obviously happened. Would you like to talk about it?"
"No, dad, I don't want to talk about it. I want to go home, take a shower, eat my food that I gladly took from the party, and go to bed."
I could see him smiling out of the corner of my eye. "Okay, sweetie."
