My Jiju's Cousin (Completed)

Kanan's POV

I look at my reflection in the mirror and smile.
Blue shirt and black jeans looks perfect.
I take my file, wallet, white coat, my phone, my wrist watch and head towards the Ola cab i had just booked

*tring*
Its my watsapp message...
While in lift i open my phone to see message from vinnie

My newly found friend has made her mission to help me find kavya.
She is Dr. Pratap (under whom i am doing internship) 's daughter

"K where r u?"

And she already named me "K" which is short for kanan

"V i am in my lift, cab is here...i will reach ur home in 10 mins"

With this i put my phone back in the pocket and ran towards the cab.
It was 8 am. Vinnie told me that morning traffic is very heavy in delhi and so even though hospital is just 1/2 hr away , but we decided to leave at 8.

Its saturday, so vinnie's college is closed and so she decided to accompany me to the hospital.

After 10 mins i reach vinnie's house

"Hey k!...finally you came!", vinnie exclaims

"Yeah!...come lets go V", i reply while vinnie sits beside me in the cab while cab heads towards the hospital.

V tells me that Tribhuvan Hospital is one of the largest hospital of Delhi.
Her dad is brain surgeon and is currently working with 3 patients

2 are male and one is a female who is a coma patient.

"And kanan we reached!", vinnie screams happily

"Oh!...wow", we stop near a magnificent 26 floored building.
I couldnt believe that it was going to be my workplace for next 8 months.

As we head inside, the the staffs smile at vinnie and greet her good morning.
She must be a frequent visitor obviously because her dad works here

She takes me into the cabin.
Its Dr. Pratap 's cabin.

"Hello Kanan!", Dr. Pratap greets me

"Hello sir", i reply

"Daddy!..Kanan and i met yesterday when he mistook me for his friend..thats when i got to know that he is going to do his internship under you!", vinnie speaks cheerfully

"Thats great...well kanan...as you came early...let me tell you about all of my patients which now you will also deal", Dr. Pratap speaks
While i nod slowly....vinnie decides to go to Baby ward to see new born babies.

"Kanan i have three patients,
One is amar, he has injury of skull which has badly affected his cellebrum region
While my second patient has intial stage of brain tumor and his name is Pranjal",  Dr. Pratap tells me

He makes me meet both Amar and Pranjal.
I read their reports and discuss on how they are going to be treated.

"Sir what about your third patient?", i ask curiously

"Well...kanan...she is in coma from last two years..and today at 9 a.m that is 10 minutes later we are going to switch her life support system..so i dont think it will be of any use by telling you about her", Dr. Pratap replies while i nod in agreement

"Sir, so when should i start working on reports of amar and pranjal?", i ask

"Well if you want you can start today itself!", Dr. Pratap exclaims

"Oh that will be great!", i reply

"Daddy comeee here!!!...dadddy!!", vinnie calls Dr. Pratap

"Kanan do me a favor its already 9 am. Go to Room no. 18 and tell nurse to close my patient's life support system", Dr. Pratap requests

"Sure"; i reply and head towards room no. 18

As i come near room no. 18 , i see 2 -3 nurses in that room..
I try to see that girl's face but i could see because of that nurse.

I see none of her relatives nearby.
I call a nurse from inside.

"Nurse, I am a intern of Dr. Pratap. He told me to close the life support system of patient no. 18", i speak

"Ok sir", she replies

"By the way where are her relatives..i mean she will be dead today", i ask curiously

"Sir, her family was here only, just then girl's mother fainted so they rushed to admit her mother", nurse replies while it makes me sad.
Poor girl and her family!

"Ohk...now you close the life support system...", i speak

The nurse then goes towards the life support, she raises her hand and starts to bring finger near the "switch off" button and is about to press it.
