Melanie couldn't explain why she felt the need to help people; she just did. When she knew one of her only friend's father was headed into a dangerous area, impulsive took over her body. The brunette had followed Joe West and his partner Eddie, who was Iris's boyfriend, to Simon Stagg's research facility.

She hid behind shelves until she had the opportunity to reach the top of one of the tall shelves, which floated to with ease. As the two police detectives questioned the scientist, Melanie kept her eyes peeled. "You honestly think that someone wants to kill me?" Simon Stagg's voice echoed off the wall of the facility. There were tons of boxes, any of them could've hidden Danton Black himself, so she watched for any movements within the warehouse.

"Well, we're not sure, Mr. Stagg, but the event you were being honored at was robbed," Eddie stated as the trio walked around the corner. Stagg was naive to believe he wasn't under fire; it was evident to everyone but him that someone was after the scientist.

"And you head of security was found murdered this morning," detective Joe West stated, swinging the documents in his hand.

Stagg just shook his head at the incredulous clues put in front of him. "I am a scientist and a philanthropist," the scientist stated, tucking his hands into his pocket. "We're not often the targets of assassins."
The brunette soundlessly followed the three far above their heads.

"What about lawsuits?" West asked, holding up the documents in his hands. "You've got about twenty of those pending."

Melanie heard a sharp thud, whipping her hair to face the door, but the door hadn't been opened. She knew it must've been her imagination or someone was coming down the stairwell recklessly loud.

"Yeah, it is a sad fact of life, detective, that when you earn a lot of money, people who haven't think they can take yours." Stagg stopped in the middle of the warehouse, facing the two detectives.

Detective West straightened up. "People like this guy, for example?" Pulling out the picture of Danton Black that Melanie had pinned to her room, only hers was a copy she'd researched herself. Even as she was a school teacher, she knew her ways around in the hacking world, especially on who to contact. "Danton Black?"

The scientist grabbed the picture of his old employee out of the detective's hand. "Danton Black," he stated. As the next lines were stated, she heard the elevator begin to move, and Melanie prepared to fight.

Her strategy as of recently was to protect the people she intending, yet not let them know she was there. She wanted to be a silent protector, one that was never thanked or recognized. Melanie wanted to be a guardian angel to watch over her home.

"You fired him. Now he's suing you," West said. Melanie didn't really focus on the conversation, and moments passed where she kept her ears open, waiting to hear the click of Black's shoes, his grunt as he fumed at his previous employer.

Stagg was in the middle of saying something when the first gunfire went off. Eddie and West both hid behind green barrels as they assessed the situation. Melanie was also at lost for what to do; she continued move. It was like the night of the banquet. The brunette in the dark suit avoided confrontation.

She heard Black's groans, and she never there was more than one coming for Joe West. The three of Black's copies walked towards the alone detective.

Melanie dropped behind the angry scientist, soundlessly. The first move she did disabled one of the copies, but it was the Flash who did the rest. He took away the guns faster than the brunette could process. She knew Barry was incredibly fast, but she never figured he was so fast as to run before she could process it.
