   Chapter 2

They drove me home after work. Usually I just walk, it's only about two miles away, not that far. It was a nice break, especially because I'm tired, but the awkwardness in the car made me feel like a fifteen year old being driven home by their boyfriends parents. Basically as awkward as it can get.

I direct Dean to the new house I live in with my brother, Tim, telling him left and right and another left. When he turns that last left we are instantly basked in flashing red and blue police lights. My heart drops and the only thing on my mind is my brother, hoping that he is okay. I mindlessly point them to the my driveway, still keeping my eyes on the commotion; that's just a few houses down.

The worry that sits in my heart won't let me wait until the car is stopped to make sure that everything is okay. I'm out of the moving car once it hits the driveway and running to the cluster of neighbors standing around the front yard. Pushing my way to the, surrounding crowd until I'm up and close with the yellow tape.

A cop passes by, I grab onto his jacket and pull him towards me. "What happened? Is everyone alright? What's going on?" I ask frantically, tightening my grip on him. I can tell he's handled a lot of people in these kind of situations because he calmly removes my hands from his jacket and tells me that he can't release the information to the public and walks away.

Of the few times that I've actually have known what I was doing with- whatever this is, I focus on the cop that just walked away, and listen. The murmurs of the people around me fade out and I keep my concentration on him.

It feels like a shit ton of bricks hit my face when I hear his thoughts as if he were right there in front of me. "Those poor people. I don't even know what could have done something like this. They just moved to town too. I can't even get the thought out of my head..." His voice fades and it's replaced with an image. A girl laying on the floor, eyes wide with fear, a cut to her throat and a perpendicular connecting cut that goes all the way down to her navel, making a T.

Somebody bumps my shoulder and makes the image disappear before I could study more of it. A frustrated, tired sigh leaves my body as black dots speckle my vision. I grab my pounding head and think about what I just saw.

"Tegan, you okay? What's going on?" Sam's voice reaches my ears, but that's not the only thing that does. The people surrounding me; their thoughts, their words being said out loud, all cramming inside my head. A finger is placed under my chin and forces me to look up into Sam's eyes. His face is full of concern as he inspects me, looking for the answer plain on my face. Just like he used to.

"I... Those people Sam..." I couldn't get my thoughts straight, words jumped into my head, distracting me. "I need to go to bed," I manage to get out. We walk the short distance in silence, but once we're on the lawn, words are already being spoken.

"Oh yeah, I do remember Sam. Good kid from what I remember. Tegan was totally in love with him," Tim says. I look up to see Tim and Dean talking.

"Yeah, my brother's like a knight in shining armor. Even now he's helping a damsel in distress," Dean says when he looks over at us. I'm too tired and busy keeping everybody's thoughts out of my head, to try and bother with a comeback.

Ignoring Dean I address my brother. "I'm sorry I came home late, over time at the restaurant. Must've really freaked you out with what happened next door," I explain as I walk through the doorway.

"It's okay, now that I know you're alive. So, you guys staying in town?" Tim asks Sam and Dean, stopping me dead in my tracks and turn around. 'Oh no, he better not invite them in or I swear I will kill him,' I think to myself, watching the situation.

Sam and Dean have a mental conversation before Dean answers, "We were just going to pass through, but I'm sure Sammy and Tegan, would love to catch up. Wouldn't you Sammy?" He pats Sam on the back and smiles brightly. Sam answers with a not to brightly, "It's been too long Tegan,"

'Yeah and it could have been longer' I think to myself as I stare him down. His brows furrow instantly and cocks his head to the side, either in confusion or in thought. His peculiar actions make me feel odd and uncomfortable. I look to the floor and avoid his gaze, not wanting to see his lovely face judging me.

"You know what? Screw motels, you guys can crash with us. Any friend of Tegan is a friend of mine," He says, waving in Dean and Sam.

My heart stops and my worlds seems to turn slowly. 'My past is haunting me, and my brother is inviting them to stay with us. Is he trying to kill me?' I whine to myself. They step inside the house and I swear I die a little on the inside. 'Maybe this is just  a nightmare, and in the morning I'll wake up and everything will be back to normal,' If only.

"We only have one guest bedroom upstairs, so one of you will have to sleep on the couch," Tim just keeps talking, and talking, as he walks to the kitchen. I see Sam and Dean start a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors. Sam ends up winning.

I really want this night to end. Now. "Goodnight Tim. Dean. Sam," I nod to the brothers, then run up the stairs. Once in my room, I close my door, strip to my underwear and fall into my bed, ready for a much needed sleep.
