Once I visited an old friend
A Siren, who has lured countless men
To their impending death
But something has changed
Her illuminating aura had faltered
I saw, in her eyes, a deep sadness
Her tone in song was a bit shy of perfection
Her usual scanty top
Was now a heavily fabricated T-shirt
Her eyes had a lining mascara
That took away from the natural beauty
Her lips almost disappeared
Under the nervous bite marks
The prettiest maiden around, had been changed
By one sailor
Who had resisted her charm
Broken her heart
And crushed her self
Leaving her nothing more than
A common mortal women
Swept away with shallow worries
About outer appearances
And forgetting their inner voice
