{Mitch's POV}

Today's the day.

The day I lose him.

I've known him since fourth grade.

She's known him for four months.

Yet she still gets him over me.

Because his parents couldn't handle him being who he was.

So today's the day I let him go.

It was a perfect day, blue skies and not a single cloud in sight, too perfect for my liking. Today was his wedding with her. The one who took him away from me. We were together for over a year, but he seems as if he doesn't remember any of it. He acts like he has been with her all along. It's almost as if he thinks that she was there with him when he was bullied. That she was there when he got hurt. That was she was there when he came out to his parents, even though he acts like it never happened. She wasn't there. I was. I was there for everything whenever he needed me, as a shoulder to cry on or for support. That's the only reason why I'm actually here today. Not to see them get married, but for him, so that he can have his happily ever after even if I'm not in it.

So, that's why I'm here, standing in front of the church with a flower crown on my head waiting for the worst day of my life to being. See, even though I'm his best friend I couldn't stand the thought of handing him the rings that would promise him a life of eternity with her. Instead when he jokingly asked me to be his flower boy, I agreed. Now I have a crown of blue, and purple roses atop of my auburn, a blue rose tucked into my black suits pocket, and petals front the roses in a basket awaiting for the ceremony to start.

"Mitch, Mitch!" Calls a familiar voice to me. Preston. The only person who seems to remember Jerome and I's relationship. "Mitch the ceremony is starting in five minutes, hurry up!" I just sigh in response. "Mitch," Preston said, "Mitch I know how much you don't want to do this, and how much you love him, but if you really love him that much than you will go out there, may his flower boy, and support him. After that you can sulk the whole reception ok?" I mumble out a fine, and am than greeted by him dragging me inside where the rest of the wedding party is.

Their endless conversations are quickly drowned out by the playing of music. All at once everyone shuts up and all eyes are on the isle. There he is, taking his spot up on the alter. I stare at him, he looks beautiful in his tux with a bright red rose in it's pocket, matching tie of the same color. For a second it feels like he is looking back at me, with a smile, the same one that never fails to melt my heart. The grooms men take hold of the bridesmaids arms, the men in tuxedos, and the girls in hideous poofy dresses no one would ever wear by their own free will. They proceed down the isle pair by pair lining up behind the groom and where the bride will be. I feel a tug on my sleeve as Preston and the last bridesmaid leave meaning that I'm next to proceed. I faintly hear him whisper "good luck" but before I can reply he's already half way down the isle.

I take that as my queue to start walking. I can hear the snickers and sneers of the audience. "Look at the gay boy", "isn't that the guy who tried to turn Jerome gay?", "freak", "ugly", "faggot". I just ignore it all. Ignore the comments and the stares, and keep walking, and throwing the petals. I glance up to see his parents with disgusted looks on their faces. It's sad to think that they used to consider me one of their own but, now hate me because of my sexuality. I finally take the last step and walk up the alter, going to the back of the line one the grooms men. I can see out of the corner of my eye, Jerome starting at me, looking almost disappointed that I'm not next to him. In front of me Preston smiling, probably happy I stuck through with it and didn't run.

The famous music than began to play. Everyone turned to look except me. I couldn't stand to even glance at the one who would be taking away the love of my life forever, very well aware that once they were married I would never see him again. When she finished the painstakingly slow process of proceeding down the isle I finally look at her. And just as I expected she was in a ball gown dress, wearing all the jewelry you could imagine and six inch high heels. When Jerome sadly had to remove the view from over her face, I saw that it was caked in even more make up than usual. Now that she could see properly she glance around the room looking at all the guests until her eyes landed on me. "What is he doing here at my wedding." She said snobbishly as always. Jerome looked taken back as he noticed who she was talking about. "Well, this is my wedding too and he is best friend, so why wouldn't he be here?" He stated back in a calmer tone of voice. Not used to being talked back to she rolled her eyes and just ignore his comment, whisper yelling at the preacher to hurry up, pretending that conversation didn't happen.

As the preacher started talking, I drowned out his voice. This was it. This was the last time I would ever see Jerome. I wanted to run so bad, just sneak out the back and never come back, but Preston some how could sense my thoughts and grabbed my wrist tightly so I couldn't. The speech droned on and on repetitively making sure that they would always love each other, stay with each other and all of that love sickening crap that I couldn't stand. Finally it was almost over, a few more lines and I could escape this hell forever. "If anyone objects the marriage of these two people please speak now or forever hold your peace." I wanted to scream out for him, tell him I still love him, but it would have no use since he loves her so ----

"I object"

Jerome

Gasps were heard all throughout the pews. No one thought someone would object especially the groom. "What do you mean you object! You can't do that at your own wedding." His mother screamed at him in a deafening tone. "Well I did, you forced me into marriage with a girl I barley know, forced me away from everybody who cares about me, just because you found out I was gay. Well guess was I'm sick of being your puppet!" He thrashed at her, she was so taken back she almost fainted. "WHAT DO YOU MEAN I WILL NOT HAVE A GAY SON!" She screamed. "Then I'm not your son."

He than stepped up to me and told me, "Mitch I love you, you are the only one I love I never loved her, was forced to by my parents, the truth is I will never forget our year together, and our whole childhood together too, even if I acted like it, you are the world to me, and I just knew I couldn't go through with this wedding. I realized how much I wished it was you instead of her. I'm sorry, and I hope you can forgive me, if you can than please take my hand, and we can run together."

I was speechless. He still loved me, ad to prove it he disowned his parents, and ruined his wedding. The whole church was quite waiting for my response. "WAIT WHAT DO YOU THINK YOUR DOING YOU CANT LEAVE ME ON MY WEDDING DAY!" She started to scream. "Well guess what it's not your wedding day anymore so shut up bitchface." Laughter and her screams of protest broke the silence, but everyone's eyes were still on us, waiting.

"So what do yo say Mitch?"

"Let's go."
