LAST CHAPTER
I ran, taking in the familiar surroundings as I got closer to my house. Stopping just at the edge of the preserve I noticed the lack of sound, I thought the pack or at least Scott would have followed me, shrugging it off I quickly looked around before slowly shifting back to human
As soon as I once again had two legs instead of four I carefully began walking towards the back fence of my house, slowing down as I got closer I listen inside, hearing only one heartbeat I assume that my Dad is home.
I jump over the fence and make quick work of climbing back in through my bedroom window.
Shutting the window behind me I quietly slip under the covers and fall asleep, the events of the night catching up with me.
NOW
Sunday Morning
I woke to the sound of my phone ringing; sitting up in bed and trying to grab it I get caught in my covers and fall to the ground with an ungraceful thud, phone landing on the ground with me. Quickly popping back up I grab my phone, letting out a breath when I see that I thankfully did not break the screen...again.
Looking at the screen more carefully I see the name flashing across the top.
'SCOTT'
Pressing answer I hold the phone up to my ear, only to rip it away a moment later when Scott yells through the phone.
"STILES? Is that you?"
I laugh at Scott
"Well you're the one who called me Scotty-Boy so who did you think it would be" I comment with my usual grin.
Scott huffed in friendly annoyance before starting
"We found a fox, it was really weird, it was like playing with us or something and...well that doesn't matter the part that does is that the fox had your scent?"
My smile dropped when Scott answered.
"Okay Scott, did anyone else smell anything or are you just crazy?" I ask trying not to sound as serious as I am.
"Uhhhhh...no one else thought it smelled like you, but..." Scott replied before I cut him off.
"See dude, you're just being protective of the pack 'honorary human mascot'" I hear Scott hum in agreement before continuing "Okay, I have some stuff to do and by stuff to do I mean that I'm gonna go back to bed, I'll call ya later Scotty" I quickly hang up before Scott can say anything.
I toss my phone back onto the nightstand before falling back onto my bed.
Sighing dramatically and looking up at the ceiling I realize how close my friends came to discovering my secret. I couldn't bear the thought of them finding out.
'What would they do?'
'What would they say?'
'Would they hate me for not telling them?'
