“What?” Greg asked me.
“What’s happening to me?” I repeated.
“I don’t know what you mean-“he started.
“Yes, you do.” I interrupt. The ringing in my head is becoming worse, and I raise me hand to my temple, and wince. Greg looks at me unsurely; he is dressed in his pyjamas, which consist of a tight fitting black t-shirt and a pair of blue and white stripped cotton trousers. The bags under his eyes are as dark as ever, although his hair is clean and slightly curly from his night of sleep. I look up at him and his blue eyes meet my grey ones, he seems to soften something.
“Please.” I practically beg. Greg looks as though he is about to say something, but before he can someone enters the hall way. His hair is grey and his eyes the same shade of twinkling blue, I can tell this is Greg’s father. But before I can do, or acknowledge anything else, my head seems to split in too, and I fall to my knees in agony.
“Anna!” Greg called and caught me under my arms before I could fall any further. I can feel where he touch burn, and the mark on my hand tingles. I try to reply, but the words wont form in my mind. Greg turns towards his dad.
“Make it stop!” He tells him. Greg’s fathers stills looks surprised to see me, not that I can see him for much longer, as my vision begins to blur.
“Please dad!” Greg asks again. But I can no longer hear the rest of the conversation as the ringing becomes too loud. I feel as though I am slipping in and out of consciences, and blurred colours flash before my eyes, i lose track of time. All I am aware of is a pair of strong arms pick me up, as my vision goes black.
When I awake I feel immediate warmth. I do not open my eyes, but only let comfort engulf me. slowly, slowly I start to bring myself back to reality. I first notice that I am covered in blankets, there weight weigh me down and my chest feels heavy. I then notice the light I can see past my closed eyelids, before I open them I hear breathing next to me, I can only guess this is Greg. And sure enough, when I blink away the sleep in my eyes, it is. He is sitting on an old wooden chair placed at the end of my old wire bed, he does not notice me at first as he is focusing on his lap and his hands that are clasped upon them. I take this time to admire the room I am laying in. A big window is situated to the left of me and bright sunlight is pouring through illuminating the small wood panelled bedroom. A book shelf and chest of draws are placed to the right of me, making the space look even older than it already did, and vase of flowers were placed on top.
Thinking that I had finally regained my strength I pulled myself up in the bed, so my back rested agianst the cushions. Greg, who seemed to have noticed my movement, looked up and smilled slightly.
"Your up." he noted and proped himself forward in his chair. "How are you feeling?"
I raised my hand towards my head, expecting to feel pain and ringing, but instead I felt nothing. I ignored Gregs question and asked him this instead.
“What happened to me?”
Greg shuffled uncomfortably in his seat.
“You passed out.” He replied.
“I guessed that much.” I said dryly. Greg said nothing in reply, but fidgeted. I noticed then, that he was now dressed, and his hair damp from a shower. His cloths were not those that he usually wore. Instead of his usually dirty baggy clothes, he wore a tight fitted black t-shirt and stylish jeans.
“How long have I been out?” I ask.
“A couple of hours.” He shrugs. I gasp, and pull the covers off me and begin to get up, but then feel faint again and grip the bed.
“Careful!” Greg says, and rushes over to me, he tries to help me lie back down but I jerk away before he can touch me. Looking slightly hurt his lowers his hand.
“I have to get home.” I say. “My parents-“
“They know you’re here.” Greg interrupts.
“What? How?”
“My Dad told them.” He stated simply. Not knowing what to reply I sat back down on the bed.
“Are you ok? Does your head hurt again?” Greg asked immediately
“I’m fine.” I snap. And then feel harsh so I add “Thank you.” We sit in a uncomfortable silence for a awhile before I finally ask.
“What happened to me? Why did I pass out?”
“Anna, I don’t think this is the right time….”
“I came here for answers, Greg, and all I have gotten so fare is a headache and more confusion.”
“I don’t think I can.” He whispers.
“Please.” I whisper back. “I need to know.” I look up at Greg who is still standing by my bed, and our eyes meet again. I know that he can see my pled there, as he sighs, and sits down on the bed next to me.
“Ok.” He grimaces. “What do you want to know?”
“Everything.” I reply confidently. Greg takes a big intake of breath.
“This” He mutters “Is going to take some time.”
