I stand, gaping in awe at the Greek God casually standing next to my house. Seriously, how is anyone that hot? He catches my eyes just as I turn to look away, and smiles nonchalantly. Crap. His green eyes flicker with amusement as my cheeks flame red. Out of the corner of my eye, I see him push himself off of the wall and begin to walk over to me. Breathe, Leila, breathe... My thoughts are interrupted by a husky voice,"Hey babydoll," My head snaps up and I see him, standing right in front of me. Wow, even better looking up close. His cheekbones are prominent under his olive skin and his chocolate hair is, almost effortlessly, tousled revealing a few sun-kissed hazel streaks.
"H..hi.." I stutter, still awestruck over quite how sexy this boy is. He chuckles and under his tight black t-shirt I see his defined muscles tense slightly with the movement. Holy shit. Gathering myself, I attempt to hold onto whatever dignity I have left, you know, after practically drooling over my new neighbour.
"You new here?" Smooth Leila, real smooth. I mentally face palm, my eyes flickering to the white moving van, but wait for his answer anyway.
"Yeah, just moved here today." Jesus, even his voice was the epitome of sexy.
"Oh, cool." I should really get out more. Again his eyes glint with amusement and I see little gold flecks dancing in the deep green. He takes a step closer, testing me to see how I would react. I stand my ground defiantly, crossing my arms over my chest.
"Ohh, feisty. I like it." His deep voice envelops me in a velvety blanket. He steps forward again. Rolling my eyes, I step past him, towards my house in an attempt at nonchalance. Suddenly, I feel a hand on my waist, spinning me back around.
"So you go to Springcreek High?" He asks, as I slap his arm away. He doesn't seem bothered, waiting expectantly for me to answer.
"Yeah, junior year." I reply, narrowing my eyes as he gently wraps a lock of my hair around his finger as it catches in the breeze.
"I guess I'll see you tomorrow then..."
"Leila."
"Leila... pretty." He muses, rolling my name off of his tongue. "I'm Hunter, by the way." I nod and head to my front door, still slightly dazed by what had just happened.
"Bye babe. " He chuckles behind me. I feel a small flutter in my stomach as he says that. Get a grip Leila. I know his type, the badboy player who uses girls for sex, before moving onto their bestfriend and leaving them heartbroken. I'm so not going there, despite the unfortunate fact he's hotter than any Abercrombie model I've ever seen. Sighing, I walk into the kitchen and see my mom, observing me with a knowing smile.
"That boy was quite good-looking." Urgh, of course she was watching.
"Mom! You need to stop spying on me, boundaries remember?" I laugh, scanning the room for snacks. Mom opens the cupboard and tosses me a pack of Skittles. She knows me too well. Grinning gratefully I pop a few in my mouth, tasting the rainbow.
"So, does he go to your school?" She persists, leaning forward on the counter, eager for gossip.
"Well, yeah, he just moved here..." I begin to answer before being interrupted.
"Where?! How cute would it be if he moved in around the corner!" I laugh at mom, getting ahead of herself as usual.
"Mom, a) I have barely even spoken to the boy and b) he's gonna fit right in with the popular crowd at school, no way is he gonna notice me once we're at school. Besides, he's a player." I say, bursting her happy little bubble.
