I dodge the wolves attack, dropping my bag by my feet, I get into a defensive crouch. I know that this wolf isn’t the alpha, there isn’t enough power coming from him. I’m guessing that this must be a relative of the little pup, the wolf comes at me again, I spin to my right and grab the wolf, slamming him to the ground. I pin the wolf, still in my human form, and growl at the surrounding wolves that are closing in on me. “I’m not going to hurt him so back off” they still get closer and I’m getting angry. I’m about to command them to back off when a voice beats me to it. “All of you back off, NOW!” the power of his command reverberates around the forest. He turns his head to me and as we lock eyes, I feel a connection, however weak. I let go of the wolf and walk over to the alpha, trying to work out what the connection is. We both realise at the same time “broth- my words cut off as I get attacked from behind and knocked out.
I wake up in a soft bed, a dull ache in my head. I lift the blanket off of me and find the little pup sleeping next to me. I smile and scratch him behind his ear. I lift the covers off and get up, being fully dressed still I walk out the door looking for the alpha. I look down to see the pup following me and I smile. I find a staircase and I walk down, my hand trailing along the beautiful dark wood of the banister. I look up as I get to the bottom, seeing the alpha from yesterday sitting on the couch in the corner near the fireplace. He looks up at me and smiles “I didn’t think I had any family left but when I saw you I knew that you were all I had left”. I smile slightly “your pretty strong for a female, I guess it runs in our blood, well from your side anyway.” I look at him and then down at the floor
“What pack is this? I’m looking for my father.” He looks at me as if surprised
This is the starlight pack, father died years ago and passed the pack over to me. Where is our mother?”
I look at him confused “we are half siblings, it’s our father that we share do we not?” He looks at me as if confused
“I see mum didn’t say anything, I’m five years older than you and my name is Kane. We share the same mother but our fathers are different. My mum and dad separated when I was four and a half, they weren’t mates and as hard as they tried their relationship didn’t work out so dad took me and left.”
I was quite confused “Mum sent me here to look for my father, she said that he could help me. Was she seeing anyone else?”
He looks down sadly. “I don’t know I was too young. That was seventeen years ago”
“Yeah that sounds about right, I’m almost eighteen. Mum once said that my eighteenth birthday is very important but I never knew why”
He looks at me “You don’t know much do you? When a wolf turns eighteen they can find their mate and they also become stronger, being fully grown. If they are from the ancient linage they will also come into their powers. I don’t have any but I don’t know about your dad, so I couldn’t tell you. It’s quite rare though, people attacking them before their eighteenth birthday when they were defenceless. They were jealous of their power.”
“I need to find my dad, do you know anyone that could help?” Kane looks uneasy “Please Kane I need all the help I can get”
“There is one person that can help, his cottage is two days run from here, in wolf form. They only problem is that he’s a vampire”
I narrow my eyes at the word, knowing that vampires and Werewolves don’t get along. “I’ll do it, show me where to go.”
Kane walks over to the fireplace “Stay tonight I will show you tomorrow, I’ve only just found my only family. I would like to get to know my sister while she’s here.”
