Ch 11: Inside the Gift

I have updated finally! I hope you enjoy the chapter. And I'm sorry for the million year wait for an update. I won't do that again to you guys. Anyway, here it is!

"Voldemort," Harry said doubtfully, "He gave you a gift?"
"Yes. yes. I got it on Christmas, and it just dawned on me that order for him to do that, would mean that he's alive!"you answered.

"You-know-who gave you a gift? What's in it?" Hermonie asked, taking it from you. She shook it, and was carefully examining it.
"I-I don't know. I'm not sure I should open it," you admitted.

"Of course you should!" Ron said, "I'm curious to know what's in it!"
"No Ron, we don't know what could be in it! This is You-Know-Who we are talking about. It could be dangerous," Hermonie scolded.
Ron shrugged.
Hermonie looked at you, "I think you should take it to Dumbledore," she decided, handing it to you, "he'll know what to do."
You looked down at the package in your hands, "yeah."

You sat in Dumbledore's office watching as he examined the package,  putting spells on it making sure it was safe. He finally coughed and said, "well, I suppose it won't hurt to take a peek."
You bit your lip as he slowly opened it.

He stared blankly at it.

"What is it?" You asked.
He then fully opened it and pulled out a quill. It wasn't like the regular feathers on a quill. it was big and poofy, And it was (your favorite color).

Now you stared blankly at it, "that's what I was freaking out about?"
"Well," dumbledore said, "you never know." He handed it to you, and you looked at it curiously. The feather was soft. "Hold on now," said Dumbledore, "There's a note."

He took out an envelope and handed it to you.
You opened it, and read to yourself:

Dear, Y/N
I know you must dislike me, now
Knowing everything, but since this is the first year you knew I existed, I figured it would be nice for me to give you a something
This quill was your mother's favorite. She always would write stuff in scrapbooks with it. I think you might like it. It's kinda funny that you have quill now that was your mother's, and her name is Quinn. Anyway That's besides the point. I wanted to say that I hope you forgive me. I didn't want to kill her, but she wouldn't get out of the way, and I needed Lily and James gone. I had no choice. Your mother was a friend of Lily, which is why you were at Harry's house that night, she was visiting the Potters. The Potters, of course, had no idea that Quinn was married to me, or the fact that you were the all famous You-Know-Who's daughter at that time. Don't worry though, your mum is not the one responsible for their death. She wasn't the one who lead me to them, in fact that was one of James Potter's friends. But that's a story for another time.

You looked up from the letter at Dumbledore.
"Well?" He asked.
You stood up slowly, "nothing." You took the quill and put it in your robes' pocket carefully. It was your mother's, and you had no reason to dislike her. All you have heard about her had all been good things.
"Then, you should get to Quidditch practice. Your first game is tomorrow," Dumbledore decided.
You smiled a bit and nodded, "okay."

As you got up to leave, Dumbledore suddenly said, "wait, there's one more thing in here," he said taking something out of the package and handing it to you.
It was some type of book. On the front cover there was a symbol. It seemed to be the Slytherin house symbol. When opening it you realized, it was a scrapbook. You quickly closed it, not wanting to get emotional in front of the professor. "It's a scrapbook," you managed to choke out.

He nodded in understanding, and you turned to the door saying, "I should get to Quidditch practice now."
