Chapter 2
I' ve never really been one for being outspoken. By that I mean I'm a little quiet and shy. It don't take much to make me blush... And he knows that.
I positioned my towel facing the sun as usual and lay down on my back. I closed my eyes and began to slip into a common daydream. Every girl knows what I'm talking about. One moment you are tanning and your crush is swimming on the beach, the next he is standing over you, cold water dripping at your feet.
I could just picture it. Me in my black bikini and him in his yellow shorts. I am lying on the most amazing beach in the whole world. Amazing because, well you know why. Then out of the water comes the sexiest guy you could ever imagine. Hair sloppy and wet hanging all around his face. His muscled tan body covered in tiny crystals of water. He walks slowly up to you with that amazing grin and stands at the foot of your towel. He bends down to give you a long wet kiss and
SPLASH!
I sat up quickly when the ice-cold water splashed my face. "Sorry you looked a little hot. " it was Ryan. Of course it was.
“I know. I was starting to get a little warm too,” I said with a grin. He chuckled and walked over to the barbecue. "Was it really necessary to pour water on me though?" he turned his head and looked over his shoulder and said "yup!" then turned back to the BBQ and put the pork chops on.
I was about to respond but as I opened my mouth to speak I heard the soft roar of an engine pull into the drive. Olivia, right on time. I heard the all too familiar groan coming from behind me. Ryan knew just as well as I did who owned the vehicle sitting in our driveway. I tried to warn them both of the dangers of doing sexual acts together when seeing each other again down the road was inevitable. But no one seems to like listening to me until after I say I told you so.
I shot him a look that meant "be nice" then got up and jumped off the pool deck. Jogging over to Olivia I said, " boy am I ever glad you're here. You pulled in at the perfect moment. " Olivia liked the sound of that.
" Ou what did Mr. Yummy pants do this time" she questioned with a wink. She looked over my shoulder, lowered her glasses and took a long stare at Ryan.
"Olivia!" I screamed as I grabbed her elbow and yanked her towards the side of the house.
"What! I don't blame you for liking him. He's sexy as fu."
"Olivia. You missed it. Oh my god. " I replayed the moments from that morning in my head. Every inch of his glistening body.
"What! What! Rachel snap out of it! Damn!" she snapped her fingers in front of my face attempting to get my attention. "What did I miss?! C'mon the suspense is killing me. "
I turned my head and checked to see that Ryan was definitely out of earshot. He was. “ He called me hot… okay well he said I looked hot and he gave me that grin again, after pouring water on my face.” I began to melt at the thought of kissing that grin. I knew I was slipping into dream world but I could not snap out of it. Olivia looked at me and shook her head.
“We need to get you away from him because I can see you’re losing brain cells,” she complained, “But first you need to get out of that bathing suit. Come on.” She grabbed me by my elbow and dragged me across the lawn to the back door. “Go get changed. I’ll wait in the kitchen.”
“I thought we were gonna tan first?” I whined.
“Yeah, but I wanna go to the mall!” Olivia said and she pushed me towards the stairs.
I stumbled up the stairs and into my room. Opening my closet I searched for something presentable to wear. I managed to pull out a short skirt, a black tank top, a pair of navy blue jean shorts and a band tee. Setting both outfits out on my bed I closed my eyes and mixed everything up. Then with my eyes shut tightly, I reached down and picked up two items. The black tank and the navy shorts. Perfect!
I changed my outfit, quickly combed my hair into a messy bun then bounced back down the stairs. I met Olivia in the kitchen. "Okay I'm ready when you are. " I told her and she got up from the stool and proceeded to the front door.
We got into the car and I pulled on my seatbelt, Olivia the same. And then we sat there. Just sat there. " What are we waiting for?" I questioned. Olivia gripped the steering wheel and looked out the driver’s side window. "Olivia?" I pressed for her attention. I watched as her gaze moved from the window to mine. Outside my window was the image of a boy putting his shoes on through the back door. I turned and looked at my best friend with my eyes the size of eggs.
"Please tell me. No. You didn't. Oh Olivia!"
"What? He asked what we were up to. I told him we were going to the mall and he said something about how he's going to be home alone now. So I invited him to tag along!" she explained with a slit grin.
" What about my brain cells? You said I needed to get away from him! "
"I've got a better idea. " she announced.
Just as I was about to ask what this better idea was the passenger back door opened and in crawled Ryan.
