I sat at a table in the corner, trying desperately to retain some of the information scattered in front of her. The Nando's was almost completely empty, which was perfect for procrastinated studying. I had only been in England for a week and, so far, it was going great. I had decided to study abroad and get some distance from my over-bearing parents in California. I was in college, for gods sake's. Shaking my head, I decided studying could wait for another day. Closing the text book in front of me and collecting my papers, I pushing my glasses higher up on my nose. I grabbed my slightly tattered messenger bag and head for the door. Suddenly, I saw flashing red and blue lights outside. My first thought was that Hannah or Sarah, my troubled roommates and best friends, had gotten themselves into trouble. Then, I heard the screams. Teenage girl screams. Ugh. I need to get out of here, I thought. Pushing open the door, I instantly regretted it. The piercing screams intensified.
"Close the damn door!" The manager yelled. I obeyed and made my way over to him.
"What's all this about." I asked, gesturing to the door.
"There's a local boy band that eat here, like, all the time." He huffed. I nodded.
"I wouldn't try getting through that right now." He told me, looking back at the cash register he was in the process of fixing.
"Well, as long as I'm stuck here, is there anything I can help you with?" I asked sweetly.
"Well," He said, stroking his mustache. "I really shouldn't let you do this, seeing as you aren't an employee, but, if anyone comes in, can you take their order? I really doubt that anyone will but, just in case." I agreed and jumped behind the counter. He nodded and went out to the back to have a smoke. I sat idly on the stool and doodled. Suddenly, a small bell could just barely be heard over the loud screaming and I look up to see 5 teenage boys stumble in.
"Okay, you guys find a table and I'll order the food." One of them said.
"Aw, thanks, Liam! You know what to get me." The attractive bleach blond called.
"Of course I do, Niall." 'Liam' nodded and smiled. Niall. The other four wandered off in the empty restaurant. The one who walked up to the register was tall and had short-cropped brown hair.
"Hi." he said, smiling kindly. I smiled back and tried to remember back to my days in America, working at a small restaurant.
"I'm Liam." He said, extended a hand for me to shake.
"Briana." I smiled.
"Hey, Liam! Quit flirting and order my food!" Someone calls. He laughs and quickly ordered a rather large amount of food. I finished writing his order and rushed it back to the manager, who helped prepare the food. I returned to the front and found, not Liam, but his attractive blond friend leaning against the counter. He saw me exit the back and grinned. I smiled back shyly.
"Hi, I'm Niall." The blond said reaching forward and shaking my hand. He's Irish, I thought.
"I-I'm Briana."
