I woke up on the floor covered in burned pieces of wood. My whole body hurt, and I could barely find the strength to get up. I didn't remember what happened, I was hoping this was just all a dream. I've never been so clueless, and I didn't know what to think. All these thoughts came to me all at once it felt like they were just going to pop out of my head and kill me. Even though I couldn't understand my thoughts considering how many there were, I knew they meant something bad. I wanted to scream, but no one would hear me, and the thought of that made everything worst. This is what it truly means to be lost in my head, I just couldn't find answers to who I was. I finally manage to get up, groaning in pain. My clothes were torn and I had dirt all over me. I walked around the house or at least what was left of it, to see how I could fix myself.
I reach the door to the bathroom and tried to open it. I pulled harder and harder on the door knob but it wouldn't open. I finally get the door to crack open, and I kept pulling harder and harder. The door finally opens along with wood falling from the ceiling. I scream and move out of the way immediately. I stare at the wood as if it were a man with a gun, I didn't know how to react. Trying to ignore what just happened, I walked into the bathroom and went to the sink. I turned on the faucet and cold, fresh water came out. Without hesitation, I cupped my hands, filled them with water and put my face in it. I looked in what was now the cracked mirror, and I just stared at myself, not knowing what to think or how to feel. It was sad to think that a person could be staring at themselves but be a complete stranger to them and having so much disappointment for something you can't remember. I could feel the sadness just grab me by the throat and never let go, just wanting me to die in seconds. I stared at myself a few more seconds then furiously walked out of the house.
Once I stepped outside, I immediately stopped, and looked around in horror. As I stared at the destroyed town, something weird happened, something unusual. I began to get light headed and everything became blurry. Soon, all i saw was black, just black. Colors started appearing, more colors, those colors soon became people, buildings, food, stores, it was as if I was looking at how the town used to be. Then all of a sudden, a loud BANG happened and everyone gasped in horror. Soon enough, everyone started screaming and running. This massive black cloud of smoke filled the town and came rushing towards me. I was so scared, soon my pupils were so big my eyes matched the color of the horrid smoke. My dad pulled me towards him and told me to run, run like I've never ran before. I've never seen him so scared before, that's how I knew for sure, this is going to be bad. Once again, everything starts to become blurry, and then just black.
Eventually, I opened my eyes, trying as hard as I could not to cry, but I couldn't help it. I sat there and cried my heart out realizing all the people I just lost, the memories I lost because I couldn't remember anything. All that I could think of, was the sound of the bomb going off and all the scared people running to save their lives, but they couldn't. I had no one left, it was only me, but I was so clueless.
I stopped crying and thought to myself, " maybe I'm not the only person left, there could be others just like me that have no idea who they are." With that hope in me, I get up and decide to walk around and see if I could find supplies, any supplies. As I walked, I sang a song to myself thinking it would bring me more hope. I kept walking and singing, but it seemed as if the music was actually playing, maybe I was hallucinating or maybe I was drea- listening more carefully, I stopped in the middle of my thought. I soon realized, I wasnt hallucinating, the song was actually playing, it was playing from a little corner store on the radio.
I started to run faster and faster with all that hope in me. I stopped right once I got to the door and put my hands on the glass door. I opened the door and yelled, "hello"! I walked to the cashier stand and saw the radio that was playing the song. I turned it down and once again yelled, "hello"! But no one would answer. I began looking around and pretending I was at an actual grocery store and that there was an actual cashier. I picked up a box of animal crackers and a bottle of Sprite and brought it to the cashier stand. "Hello sir, how are you today"?........"I'm fine, thanks for asking". Still pretending someone is there. "Yes that will be it"......."thanks, you too"!
