At the time, it seemed kind of trivial to be leaving a man after 20 years of being together, but things just weren’t right, and they were driven apart. If she were to look at it seriously, she was stuck for a long time. The relationship has been bad for the last 5 years or more. Just going through the motions and not being sure what is going to be best for her and her daughter. Not sure that leaving was the right thing to do. A decision was needed, after careful consideration, counselling and all that goes in between, Raelynn left her husband and moved on. Raelynn is in her late 30’s, she is average height, about 5’6”. She has long brown hair that goes to her waist, and chocolate coloured eyes. Not a girl to wear heels or skirts a lot, but she does always dress to be comfortable, even when she dresses for work. She has a regular office job, she is an office manager at one of the big oil companies in downtown. Her husband James, now ex-husband, used to mooch off of her, everything that she worked for, she had to always give up for him. No savings, or nothing to show for a dedicated employee that has worked her all her life since she was 16 years old. Her mother kicked her out at the age of 18, and she has been on her own since. She met her husband when they were 19, they were together for 5 years before getting married. She thought that she waited long enough not to make a mistake, she wasn’t wrong, it’s just that she grew and her husband didn’t want to grow up and change. Things that make you attracted to one person could soon be the same things that make you leave that person behind. She always felt like he was holding her back, there could have been so much more. They had a daughter, who is now 8 years old, and this daughter was one of the reasons that she wanted to make sure that leaving is the best answer to the problem that has been plaguing her for so long.
Nevada is a brilliant child. She is great at Gymnastics and is currently in competition cheerleading. She goes to school, but a lot of her time is spent at the gym practicing and rehearsing for the competition next spring. It takes dedication to do it and she has been at it for three years, but this is her first year in competition. Nevada got her mother’s dark hair, but her father’s curls. With green eyes, sometimes people think that she is different looking, but still a beautiful girl. She was cute when she was a baby with her dark curls. She had tan skin all year around, even though they did live where it would snow eight months of the year, her tan never faded. Nevada’s smarts always amazed her mother, got Raelynn to think that she was definitely smarter than herself from time to time.
Raelynn felt that a vacation was in order for herself. It’s time that her ex looked after Nevada for a week and she was going to go and find herself. A place that she loves to visit is Vancouver, BC, where the air is warm and filed with ocean breeze. There are lots of beaches and parks all around to take some long walks. Living in Calgary, she didn’t have much time to go there, but she liked it there all the same. A trip on her own is something that she has never done before either, It’ll be a hard explanation for Nevada to understand, but she is a smart kid and will understand her mother’s need to get away.
When she sat Nevada down to tell her about the trip, her daughter surprised her once again with how understanding and smart she is. “But mom, who will you go with?”
“No one honey, I need sometime for myself. I need time for me. Can you understand?” Her mother asked softly. Nevada looked at her mother for a moment, and then she had a small smile in her face.
“Well, mom, I love you and I trust you. You always do what is best for me and you, so I understand.” And then she gave Raelynn the biggest hug. A tear formed in Raelynn’s eye, how can this young girl be so understanding? Next task in her list, to talk to the ex, but as for right now, she is going to spend the rest of her day with her daughter. Mommy and daughter day. Raelynn took Nevada for movies, diner then ice cream. When they got home, her stomach hurt from laughing so much, she really is a great kid. Raelynn then tucked Nevada into bed; she fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow. After Nevada was secured, Raelynn decided to get packing for her trip.
