Sara's POV:

I wake up and I am in the hospital. How I got there? Well I knew but I didn't want to think about it.

I felt terrible. It was a mistake. A very big one.

I was at my boyfriend, Jared's, house. He told me that we needed to talk. I had assumed it was about his cancer so I went over with high hopes that it had gotten better. Turns out Jared had other plans.

"Hey babe," he said kissing me on my cheek.

"Hey, is everything ok?" I ask.

"No."

"Is it your cancer? Has it gotten worse?" I ask.

"Yes but that's not it. I'm breaking up with you," he said as if he had said it thousands of times before.

I ran out of the house and got into my car and just cried. I cried all the way home. And then, well I'm not going down that road again.

"Sara," I hear coming down the hall way. "You have a visitor," says the nurse who has been taking care of me these past few hours.

Samantha walks into the room. Great. She was e last person I wanted to see right now. She was probably so mad at me for not talking to her immediately.

"Hey," she said

"Hey Sammy. Thanks for coming it really means a lot but can I ask you why you came?"

"Sara, don't be silly, you're my best friend. And I know that you think I'm mad at you and that I came here to yell at you but trust me, I'm here because I want to make sure that you are okay and that you get all of e help and support that you need."

Wow I was so relieved that she didn't just come yell at me and leave. She really wanted to help me and that meant everything to me.

Samantha has been my best friend since we were in kindergarten and knowing that she still cared about me the same way she did almost 20 years ago means a lot to me. All of the people we know who we're best friends during school don't talk to each other anymore, but lucky for us that didn't happen between me and Samantha.

"Thanks Sammy, you are the best!"

She leaves and I decide to get some rest before I hear what the doctor has to say.
