“Scream”
The last day of school, Noel Arken was walking home. The sky was painted an indigo shade. The only sounds to be heard are the cars passing by, and the buzz of the street lamps. Out of nowhere a bone chilling scream is unleashed by what sounds like both a man and a woman. Noel turns around–
“Who’s there?!”
Only the trees reply with the whistle of their leaves. As he continues walking, Noel seems fidgety, he claims he hears the giggle of his little sister, Melody. A few blocks from his house, there was a car slowly driving behind Noel. ‘How Odd,’ Noel thought, the car seemed to be the other vehicle on the road. The figures in the car were barely to be seem. The strange occurrence sent an odd feeling through Noel, he started off in a slight jog, then began a sprint towards his house.
As he walks inside he hears rattling noises upstairs. ‘Hmm’ he thought, ‘Maybe it’s Mom and Dad.’ Noel locks his house door behind him and calls out,
“Mom?–Dad! You there?!”
Nothing. No reply. Feeling a bit more anxious, he called out again.
“Hello? Hello Hello?!”
He quickly searched around the room, his head jerking around at every noise possible. Noel shrugs it off, ‘I don’t know, maybe i’m just paranoid,’ he thought. As Noel starts walking up the stairs, he hears the noise again. It sounds like very soft footsteps on creaking floorboard below in the kitchen.
‘Ok,’ he thought, ‘Maybe Melody’s home from school?’ He walks to the room with the door plastered in rainbow stickers and sparkles labeled: ‘Melody.’ Noel quickly opens the door in hope to see his little sister. Again. Nothing. No one. Noel lost in confusion, he began to call out,
“Hey Mom you home? Dad? Melody–Anyone?!”
Waiting silently for a reply, nothing came. Sighing, he gave up and walked to his room, as he laid down on his bed the cool, October air blows on his face through his room window. The dark, eerie night gets painted with black and the stars are soon to appear. Hours were passing by as several strange thoughts came to him. ‘Where could they be? Have they left me here? Is anyone supposed to come?’ More thoughts came to him but suddenly the noise appears again.
Noel sprinted down the staircase in hope to see his family, he eagerly starts searching the rooms. The living room; Empty. The kitchen; Empty. All other bedrooms; Empty. ‘Maybe they’re parking the car,’ He thought. Quicker than light, he dashes outside into his garage. Panting, he looks up. His eyes widen in fear, taking steps backwards, he gets cornered. As the figure corners him, Noel looks quickly for an escape. Heart beating, sweat breaking lose on his forehead, his eyes drawn to the window and quickly widen. His parents lay sprawled in the woods behind their house. Gasping, Noel looks up again only to see the figure less than 5 feet away from him.
A little girl, with a gaunt face and menacing appeal. Long, thin, black hair in a weightless white dress to her ankles. His eyes darting around the room when he realizes something drips from her dress. How did he not notice?! The little girl seemed to be covered in a red liquid. Blood. He knew it. Looking down he sees something sparkling in her hands. ‘Oh great.’ He thought. Then, he looks down at the knife in her hand, only to see that it too is covered in blood. The next thing he knows, the girl is right in front of his face.
Drawing in his breath, the girl plunges her object into his chest. He collapses to the ground in merely seconds. As she peers down at his body, then looks up with an eerie smile remembering his last words–
“Melody!”
The End.
