"This is my gift, sweetie! This house is all yours! Your room is painted yellow, you have a big mural inside! Go! Check it out!"
Whoa. This? This is really mine? The money, the money mom spent just to buy this, must be big.
"But mom, is this too much? I can't accept this."
I must not. I must learn to act like a grown up woman, thinking of budget, money.
I saw mom's face, she became sad in an instant and frowned.
"No. This is for you. Your father and I bought it long ago, when he is still alive, he personally designed this house for you! So don't you dare turn your back on our gift! His gift."
I saw a tear fell from her eyes, but she smiled glumly.
Thinking of this as my daddy's last gift? I would take it!
"Promise mom, when I have a job, I'll make it up to you. I'll treat you! Thank you very much, I love you. Daddy and you, always."
I hugged mom real tight, and started to reminisce.
Every time I walked through our memories, my memories with my family, I got sad, knowing that it will never be the same again, because daddy's gone for good.
I was always the daddy's girl, he would always sing with me, play with my dolls, and treat me like his princess. We were perfect that time, and I just wish that we could be like that again.
No one, can measure up on how great he is, my mom is. But, he left, he abandoned us. I just knew that I was traumatized when one night, I woke up crying on bed, that time, I can't breathe. I dreamt of my dad.
I miss him. I would always come to his grave, whenever I felt sad, bullied or happy. He is my safe place, my home. I shared this home with him, but later on, I introduced dad to Bernie.
I was crying that time, when Bernie said things, which made me like him even more.
*FLASHBACK*
"Sweetheart, I thought you would treat me? Why in the cemetery?"
He asked, anxious and a bit bothered
"Is this we would do the 'thing'? You know, you, I, doing 'something'"
He smiled sheepishly. Hah! This man is sometimes crazy, thinking about the 's' word? Not yet!
I laughed hard and said
"Don't be silly. We're in front of daddy's grave."
"Hah—oh. Uhm, would he be angry?"
He asked, a bit of scared.
Of course my dad would! If he's still alive, he'll punch you right in the face! That's how loving he was.
"Dad, hello! I'm sorry that I haven't visited for a while. You know, busy of some stuff in school. Uhm, hey, I brought you crab and corn soup, your favourite!—"
"Hey, you don't let me eat that? Can I have some too baby?"
Look at him, being so flirty, and giving me that bit-lip-big-eyes look. He's so cute I want to kiss him!
"Nope! Uhm, dad, because you can't eat it, I would just eat it for you!"
"Please?"
Bernie said the moment I was about to put a spoonful of soup in my mouth.
Ugh, why is he so handsome?
So, I had no choice, I put the spoonful of soup into his mouth and acted like I was angry.
