It would all be fine if Casey felt just okay, but he didn't. He felt extraordinary and excited which was newsflash for him and his parents who looked at him like he was some sort of a maniac. Frantically, Casey searched for some ingredients that could go in his sandwich. All of his actions were rushed and his fingers were trembling.
His mom was constantly trying to ask him something, but Casey looked like he was on some sort of a happy warpath and literally nothing could stop him.
For the first time in his life, he was excited to go to school, even though today he had some totally irrelevant test to take, but that didn't matter when there would be one thing different, one person that would make his day different.
Len.
His mom patted him on his back and Casey smiled really brightly at his mom. She deserved it, at least, his dad scowled every time Casey was even close.
Somehow, his mom managed to stop his dad from acting all violent and shit but that didn't stop the scowling.
Fortunately, Casey was not giving a shit today or in the near future (he at least hoped so).
His things were ready and he was ready to go, even though there was still around twenty minutes left until he could drive to school.
His parents were looking at him, seeming a little bit disgusted and a whole lot unsettled.
They never saw Casey looking so hyped, especially not over going to school.
Oh, no. Casey thought, now they will think he has a girlfriend.
Casey just thought about how bad it would be, like what would happen if his parents actually thought that he had a girlfriend? One day, his mom would walk into his room, she would lay her hand down on his shoulder and look at him deeply and carefully into his eyes and say, "Casey, when will you bring your girlfriend to meet us?" and then Casey would be all happy and shit and one day the day would come, and the dinner would be ready and his mom would wear something nicer and his dad would get his scowl on.
And then...
And then, Len would walk with a girl in a beautiful skirt and nice legs, while actually it would just be Len in disguise with a nasty wig.
Then the both of them would get thrown the fuck out of Casey's house.
That was such a funny scenario, Casey started to smile to himself and his dad had to break the silence.
"What's so funny?" his dad sniffled and closed his morning newspaper and laid them down on the coffee table.
Casey smirked once more, just once for the end. "Nothing, dad. Don't worry."
His house smelled like cinnamon and that was weird because there sure was no cinnamon in his house, but Casey casted that aside. It wasn't relevant. The only thing relevant today was the fact that Len and him will hang out the whole day.
Casey felt lucky somehow. After all, he should be feeling lucky, as he managed to get a friend who wasn't a passive person unlike him and even thought Len and himself were totally different, Casey could see it working out.
Wow, it really sounded like they were in a relationship.
Casey didn't want to think about the things that could stop their friendship, for example, Casey being a dipshit and a creeper and taking a photo of Len in the dark the first night they unofficially met. Wow, that sure was a wild ride.
That picture was hidden under a stack of papers and even if someone wanted to find it, they couldn't because who the hell would ever go search in that pile of papers. It even looked uninteresting; it was just a pile of papers.
