The sun was hot on Nightrunners pelt. New~leaf was becoming green~leaf, and the temperature was rising. Missy strode in front of him.
Her ears were pricked, and alert for prey. Yesterday when him and Jane had met Missy, they had no clue where to hunt or stay the night. Nightrunner was thankful of the rouges kindness.

Missy flicked her ears toward the soft sound of moving leafs. A small mouse popped it's head out and scurried across the bed of leafs. Nightrunner got down and aimed at the mouse. He slowly pulled him self forward before a twig snapped beneath his paw. The mouse quickly retreated back into a hole. I'm not so good at this after all, I'm a Windclan cat, I should be hunting on the moor. Or, I was....

Nightrunner shook off his pelt.
His first time catching a mouse was with Quillwhisker. The old tom also had the same interests in other clans.
"Keep your tail down." Quillwhisker had meowed "lightly step forward."

Nightrunner closed his eyes and drew in a sent. Vole! Nightrunner opened his eyes and walked a few fox lengths toward the sent. "Stay calm." Nightrunner repeated Quillwhiskers words. "Tail down, paws in" Nightrunner got down and did as Quillwhisker had once told him. "Slowly now.."

Nightrunner inched forward letting his belly barely letting his belly touch the ground. "Now pounce!"

Nightrunner threw  himself forward with his hind paws. The vole squeaked and ran for the safety of the leafs. But Nightrunner was to fast. He quickly landed on top of the vole and killed it with a bite to the neck.

"Thank you." Nightrunner mumbled. Even tho he was no longer in Windclan he kept his believes of Starclan.

Nightrunners belly rumbled, he realized if he didn't eat now he would remain hungry. He buried the vole deciding to save it for Jane or Missy, or just in case he didn't catch anything else. He then ducked back under the trees and quickly picked up the sent of Mole. It wasn't his favorite prey but easy to catch. He struck the mole with his front paws then bit it's neck. Nightrunner picked up his plump grey prey and carried it back to where he buried his vole.

By the time Nightrunner returned to Missy's den the sun was going down. Jane and Missy were already inside eating there prey. Nightrunner sat his prey in the fresh kill pile they had made  but took his vole and a mouse caught by Missy.

"Nice catch!" Jane commented as she observed Nightrunners prey.

"Thanks" Nightrunner mewed as he sat down next to her.

"When do you want to leave?" Jane asked as she sat down. "We can't leave tonight tho. We should get some rest."

Nightrunner took a bite of his vole then nodded his head in agreement. "We should leave tomorrow morning." He meowed as he took another bite.

"Leaving so soon?" Missy interrupted. She padded up to the two cats. "It's been fun having you."

"Well it's been a pleasure staying, but we have somewhere we need to be."  Jane answered before Nightrunner.

"So it's settled." Nightrunner meowed "We leave tomorrow."
