"He said to fully understand what kind of person you are, he needs to meet your parents."
Scarlett and I were talking the day after the meeting. "Well, I live with my mom, as you know. There isn't anybody much to meet. She's always at work."
"That's alright."

"How are you, Mr. Michaels?" my mother inquires. I made supper while she was at work to impress Scarlett's father. Little did I know, it would impress him a little too much. The meeting was supposed to be so he could assess my ability to be a good boyfriend, but all throughout the diner, I noticed the faces my mother was making at him. They put a sinking feeling in my stomach.
As Mr. Michaels and Scarlett left, my mother had a glint in her eyes that I knew all too well. She was too trusting. The last time she had this look, her fiance turned out to hurt her, and I had to kick his ass for doing so, even though he was three times my size. I was afraid that this wouldn't turn out well. For Scarlett, me, my mom, or especially her father.
