The place was dark and quiet. Nothing was there but a long winding path. I followed it to see where it's leading to. Along the way, there was a voice.
"You can't die right now... Not here..."
"Die? Am I... dead?"
"You are the bearer of the notebook... you are this world's hope."
"What? Me? Why me?"
"This world is meeting its end... you must stop it..."
"The world? Just what is going on here?!"
I kept following the path to seek for more answers. Fear and uncertainty started to engulf me. My knees started to tremble, my breathing patterns irregular. All I could see is darkness around me... and I feel really uncomfortable walking in the dark alone. I refrain from looking down the path as well, it will only make things worse.
The more I move forward, the warmer and brighter the path is. It's gentle warmth enveloped me, like a baby in a cradle. The path is starting to be filled with golden radiance, the ticking of the clocks can be heard nearby. At the end of the path, there was a stage. The floor is made of glass, underneath it were moving gears. In front of the stage was a giant clock. Reminds me of the Big Ben back at London. I walked towards the stage, looking at the giant clock. "What a huge clock..." I said to myself. There was something peculiar about this clock though... The hands are not moving. As if... the time in this void is frozen. I wonder how will I make it move again.
Oh look, there seems to be a lever at the center of the stage. Maybe that will make it moving again.
I went to the lever. It was slender, long, and colored gold. I held it tight and gave it a good pull. However, it didn't budge. I have to give it another strong pull, mustering up my strength... and it was a success, I was able to pull it this time. The giant clock is moving gain, and it struck twelve. Nothing else happened for a few seconds...
WHOAH!
The stage started to shake! I hold unto the lever, when it spoke to me again.
"This is the path that you have chosen..."
"Chosen.... waahh-"
The glass stage shattered into a million pieces, the gears slowly separated from each other, and I fell into the dark void. I screamed my lungs out to nothingness. The bright, warm luminosity slowly faded, everything became cold once again. I can feel myself endlessly falling...
"I got you!"
"huh?"
It was a voice from a girl. I felt hands catching my fall.
"Wake up!"
"Wha--"
I found myself lying on a bed. Was that a dream? I swore I was falling into the void. Maybe it is just a dream. I looked around, and realized that I'm in a hospital. I looked at my right. There's the window. Looks like a beautiful day. I looked at my left. I saw a Claude and a blonde girl wearing a bright yellow dress.... A GIRL?!
"You're finally awake, I was so worried!" Claude was almost brought to tears. The girl beside him spoke.
"Yeah, you passed out in the middle of the road! Good thing my limousine didn't hit you." the girl smiled.
"Limo... you! That was your limousine?! You almost hit the principal!" I tried to get up, but I was too weak to, and needed assistance from Claude.
"Now now, take it easy, grumpy, it wasn't my fault or the driver's! The breaks suddenly just... didn't work okay??" She explained.
"Well it's your fault for not checking it beforehand!" I shot back at her. Seriously who doesn't check their vehicle before a trip?
