Choices are made by us it's not them who make us yet in some cases, it does happen because of certain factors such as poverty, hunger and any other interconnected social evils with the after mentioned. That is my simple comprehension about crime and those who perpetrate it. Sometimes, even though they didn't want it, their guts felt a necessity for the committal of such. I know, not all will be in agreement with my philosophy but the important thing is, majority might arrive with the same notion. Today is set as the day when I suppose to fly for Singapore, a prominent country in the Orient. Leaving was the only left avenue for me to recuperate after the emotional distress the untimely demise of Uncle Laz. He may be gone but never forgotten. When he was alive, he indulged me with his daily word of advice that helped me have such a well-rounded personality. He also would read to me the daily paper. If I was to prepare for school, he would suit me up with my school uniform and even comb my hair, and every once in a while, ride me to school with his silver Audi. Whenever I got in a mess with one of my classmates, he would settle the matter quickly. The said scuffles were brought by my low level of temper as I was seen by my colleagues as a prey for their illicit activities inside the four walls of our room. They do a variant of examples of bullying from the conventional calling of names and the list goes on and on. That continuously occurred for duration of seven years. I would like to call it my toughest stage. During the tenure, I began thinking about the word equality. I even questioned myself if it still existed in this modern world. My query was only answered when I got a chance to take up a baccalaureate degree. And the response depended on the breeding of a person. It's upon the nurturing of the parents when he was young. So, parenthood, in my opinion, is one of those challenging yet fulfilling tasks. Parents must be flexible to their children. Flexible meaning, they have various rules to portray. They must be their child's confidante. Whatever their child likes as long it is right and benefiting, they must show their support. For father- daughter, mother- son, you must be each other's boyfriend and girlfriend in the sense that, you must remain affectionate to each other and there shall be no secrecy between the two of you because, in my belief, secrecy is the root of betrayal. And betrayals, deception sometimes, lead to murder, the biggest sin of all sins.

The time has come for me to depart and with me, is the girl who I endear, Melina. We arrived at the airport via public transit for us to spend less. She hates to cry so she didn't come with me inside the airport but before getting off, she handed me a greeting card. What a simple but thoughtful present of hers. To seal the deal, she blew me a kiss at the cheek. Right after that, I got off alone and closed the door. She waved her hand goodbye and from afar, I could see her weep. One view that is rare to catch. With her pearly whites, she likes to smile, a lot. I picked out my cellular phone and plugged my earphones on. By random, songs that reminded me of the romance we have. And I do hope, doesn't turn out to what we had. Anxiety attacked me because I fear of the day she gets rid of me and exchanges me for another. Admittedly, there are far more handsome, intelligent, muscular and rich guys than me. Back in the day, she had plenty of boys adoring her. After all, what more could you wish for? She exhibits many talents so many that, if I enumerate them all, you would definitely be flabbergasted. That is why I sometimes wonder why among the thorns I was the one she picked. I would ask her: "What made you say yes to me?" A solitary response from her would be heard every time. "If there's one thing that you are, Jack, that is good."

Whilst waiting for my flight, I sat down comfortably and read her letter. I seldom cry but who will not sob after receiving such poignant expressions. I did the sign of the cross after having read it to express my thanks to the Divine who dropped down an angel from heaven for me to love and cherish. My stomach suddenly felt hungry so I unlocked my suitcase and grabbed the container which contained a cup of rice paired with blood stew which she cooked for me before she went out to see me. Out of being full, I burped. Then to easily digest what I had intake, I drank the bottle of OJ she made. She immediately called up and asked if I had finished up to the last bite. With a gentle voice, I responded: "Of course." Although I don't see her, I know that she is glad. I hate to drop the call but I had to because the moment I looked at my watch, it was near my flight time. I hurriedly stepped down the stairs and walked to the designated plane. It was freezing inside, good thing that I had put on my jacket even before flying. But still, even with my jacket on, I felt chills. I was coughing and sneezing simultaneously. To help control it, I took the food supplements that my doctor prescribed me, USANA, which is renowned in its field. It was discovered by Dr. Myron Wentz and its headquarters is located in Salt Lake City. After taking them, there was suddenly a soothing feeling in me. Minutes before the takeoff, the flight attendants demonstrated the safety precautions that we must be mindful of during the course of the flight. I tightened my seatbelt and feasted my eyes on the beauty that they call Canada. Moments like this make me appreciate being a citizen of this country. My allegiance will be with country and this country alone. I will not trade it for any other country and someday, somehow, I will shed my blood in the salvation of this country and the world from the wrong hands of oppression and anarchy. Roughly after a day after my flight, I reached my destination. Ten days, I will have a well deserved vacation after all what has happened. On my first day in Singapore, my initial itinerary was my hotel room. Through my cellular phone, I received a notification from my sponsor, Jim Tagashima, one of uncle Laz's old comrades that he will pick me up at the airport and coming with him is his much younger sister, Max Tagashima, only sixteen years of age, too young for her innocence to be taken away. I could easily identify them because they sent me a photograph of themselves. Max, yet young, has shape and beauty of an adult. She has also, the eyes that resemble a cat. Jim, on the other hand, can be easily identified by his brushed up hair and shaved eyebrows. I pulled my luggage out and was accompanied by them to the hotel. Cordially, Max spoke to me in fluent English. "Welcome to Singapore, Mr.?" I responded in the same manner. "Jack. Jack Donaire." I was toured by Jim around the hotel, which is named Supernova. It was evident with all the paintings of cosmic and heavenly bodies all around the facility. "Jack, the owner of this hotel is our father, Manuel G. Tagashima. He's now enjoying a vacation in the Philippines with our mother, Helen Tagashima. "He uttered. " Who runs this place when your parents are away?" I inquired. "I run the place. But time to time, I ask advice from my younger sister from the advertising aspect. In her young age, Max is very outspoken, so she has a lot of connections. Through those connections, we earned returning customers. In return, we made a lot of profit, especially this year. Actually, we are having plans of expanding our chain to other countries. Currently, we have two branches." Impressed by his family's success story, I applauded him. "Congratulations, Jim. I hope the best for your future endeavors. Just trust yourself and more success will come your way." "Shall I welcome you to your room, Jack? It seems you are exhausted. "He said smilingly. Exhausted was right. It seems that I needed a massage or a tea to be rejuvenated. Before parting ways, he remarked: "Just call room service if you need something. Enjoy your stay and have a nice day." The hotel employee handed me the keys to my room. It was number 112. It was located just in the hotel's atrium. I opened up my room and gave my thanks to him. I called room service and requested my favorite drink. A red iced tea with a sliced lemon on top. Knocking at the door was Max herself. Profound, I asked:" You own the place, but why do you need to do this?" She touched me at my lips and said: "Just shut your mouth." Offended, I pushed her away with force. Feeling hurt, she cried and ran away closing the door. With that demeanor of hers, more questions arose. Although restless, I switched off the lights, set my alarm to five in the morning, said my prayers, wrapped myself with the blanket and closed my eyes. The next morning, I woke up five minutes before. Missing Canada and the people there, I called Melina up. After constantly receiving a busy tone, I just sent her a message. Consequently, Daniel called me up. He told me that he was slowly starting to recover. No matter how he denies it, I know that deep down, misery in him remains ubiquitous. He will continue his schooling through the aid of our grandmother who at present, dwells at the United States of America. There, she resides with her husband and three beautiful grand daughters. Years ago, Uncle Laz told me that he plans to patch up with his begotten son as he was waiting for his papers. When I met Daniel, and started this brotherhood of ours, I know, that I done a huge accomplishment and will make Uncle Laz glad but this all slipped away when he got into mishaps transforming himself to a drunkard. It's implausible to turn back the hands of time and go back into the past. I told him that the best doctor for heart wounds is time and time alone. Our phone conversation lasted for at least an hour and a half. Breakfast was served and it was a lip smacking meal because it was one of my eternal favorites, ramen noodles combined with brown rice. I didn't know if it was coincidental or planned for Max, for the second time around, rendered me service. Without having second thoughts, I asked her: "Why did you do that?" Pretending that she didn't know what I was referring to, she timidly asked: "Do what?" I answered:" The thing you did to me a night ago." She giggled in a way that she was arousing me. "You know what, Jack, I like you. You're my type." I nodded my head. "I like you too. But sorry, I am committed to a woman back in Canada. Her name is Melina and here's her photo. I pulled out my wallet from my pants and showed her a picture of Melina. She showed dismay and gave an insensitive remark regarding Melina telling me that she's way more beautiful than her and she looks like a chambermaid. She walked away with anger and shut the door. That kid is such a pain in the ass. I desired to talk to her brother so I knocked his door. He immediately opened the door for me and asked me what he could do for me. "Not much, Mr. Tagashima. I just want to complain about your sister's unpleasant attitude towards me this past couple of days. He told me that she will be reprimanded as soon as possible and he shared me a few anecdotal narratives about his sister getting pummeled by their father up to the present. That is why she tends to search for attention from all sorts of people. Before leaving, I gave thanks to him and he gave me a lucky charm. According to him, it is designated to attract positive vibes. I received a call from my lady love, saying that she has a lot of paperwork to attend to the entire week and there's no possibility we could chat. But she will try to notify me on what is she up to, which is a good thing. On my second day in Singapore, I will be traveling to the zoo thus; I will bear witness to another view which I love a lot, one of God's masterpieces, the nature. The distance from the hotel to the zoo is quite far so I will have an amicable time to see some of the different structures of Singapore. Jim, who has resided in the country for more or less a decade has the adequate experience to act out as an unlicensed tour guide. By hearing much from him, I started to like Singapore, Singaporeans and their way of life. Jim, by the way, finished architecture in a scholastic institution ran by the priests in the Philippines. He decided to marry Kate Silva, a Filipina he met back in his collegiate days. They decided to be permanent residents of this country in '05, a year after they exchanged vows. Then, after a year of having a miscarriage, they were blessed an infant who is totally irresistible. She is living with her mom in the Philippines because it was Jim alone working since her mother delivered her. Kate opted to stay at home and raise the kid. But when the kid reaches the age of schooling, she will return to work because the cost of matriculation in the Philippines is high. So, a single working parent isn't always enough. Jim earns a lot because of the family business they run but maintaining a hotel needs a lot of expenditures. The electric, water, phone bills, the salaries of your employees, taxes and the list goes on from there. Less than an hour later, we had reached our itinerary and paid Lawrence. Jim usually pays him a little extra for his loyalty. "I'll beep you up when we will go home. " Jim reminded Lawrence. Lawrence pulled out our bags from the back and started his engine again. The zoo staff handed us a map that we could use during the entire trip. Jim carried out his hand camera for us to be able to take pictures that would compile a sure adventure. Of all animals, my favorite would be the tiger. Because it represents a characteristic of mine, fierce and brave.
