Radwan, Fodjour, his wife Jackie, Clair, and I are all on this adventure seeking the help of the one I've always wanted to meet. My grandma, and the creator of everything we know. Her name is Luna-Sul. She is called this because she can control the light and the dark. She is named after the sun and moon. I plan on doing whatever it takes to get there, but I'm afraid those two men in the book store have other plans for us.
"I wonder what those little dots are?" Asked Clair as we kept on walking.
"I was wondering the same thing." Replied Radwan.
"It seems we are all seeing the same thing." I said."Let's check it out!"
"Take it easy Dom, the journey hasn't even started yet. Let's wait till we get to the training hall. That's where the adventure awaits us." Said Fodjour.
"Come on, please? I'm in charge anyway. If I say we should check it out, we should check it out, and I say we check it out. Let's go people."
"Well I'm one of the only two responsible people here, and I say we don't check it out." He replied
"And I'm the other one, so let's go check it out!"
"If you two want to strangle each other before we even leave the tribe territory then fine, but I came to develop my powers, so I'll see you at grandma's house." Clair rudely interrupted.
"Wait, Dom, I'm sorry for ruining the fun, but she's right. We should stay focused on the mission." Fodjour said.
"Fine, we stay on track, and rest at sunset." The day went as planned from then on. We spent the rest of the day on and off of trails, and climbing a few deep slopes as we came across them. We stopped for lunch at a nearby river, and discussed emergency meeting plans in case we got split up. Then we kept going till night, and stayed at a local dine inn.
I was the first to be up in the morning, as always. "Just enough time before everyone else gets up to get a shower in" I thought to myself as I tried to quietly step over the others. By the time I was done, Radwan was the only other person up. He and I were always up early as kids so we could sneak out and go to the river behind our houses and catch some fish and get eggs from the owl nest in the willow by the river to surprise our mom and dads with breakfast in bed. I guess he was still in the habit of getting up early as well.
I woke everyone up to get ready, and we were off the get breakfast and cafel, a sweet drink made of fruit juice and cream. As soon as we finished eating, we gave the waitress a large tip and left with our things.
Since it is still the beginning of the year it is still cold enough to snow. To none of our surprise it did. We decided it would be a good idea to stop at a lake and let everyone take a break and chill. The ice was about two inches thick, so I decided to put my ice powers to good use. I put blades on the bottom of everyone's boots. Boots aren't necessarily the best shoes to skate in, but oh well.
Cillian, Fodjour, and Jackie were the first on the ice. they looked so peaceful, like they were floating across the water. Sometimes I wish I had Fodjour and Cillian as my parent, but not now. I know they already have a lot on their hands. They have a child with them on a most likely dangerous quest to an old lady's house where I will learn to control a killing spree of darkness.
I stopped daydreaming as soon as I heard a young girl's shriek of fear. I looked back and there she was, a 4 year old girl sinking to the bottom of a giant lake through a hole she had just created. by the time i got up and ran to them, Fodjour was already taking his clothes off to dive in after her. I stopped him before he even had his pants all the way down. This mission was to improve my powers, wasn't it? I put my hands out over the water and focused on the water under the hole. It all started flooding out at once. My plan was to keep doing this until either she comes out of the water or I pass out. Surprise. Right as I saw the pale lifeless head of a girl pop out of the water, the world around me started to go dark.
When I woke up, I saw a worried dad giving mouth to mouth to a young, pail, now frosty haired girl with no breath and no life. I ran to him, my heart pounding with fear for the little girl I might have just killed with my stupid idea. When I reached my destination, he yelled at me to go away, to stay away from his daughter. I was in shock that he was so mad at me; after all it's not like I made the hole in the ice. I pleaded that it wasn't my fault. "I was just trying to give everyone a good time." I said with tears in my eyes. Cillian looked so scared that her brown skin was now two shades lighter than it had previously been. She also came running to her daughter's side. when she got there she grabbed me in a tight hug and started crying in my shoulder.
As the little girl gasped for breath, so did we all. That surprised me because I hadn't realized I was holding mine. We all ran to her side to helped her up.
I started to feel colder as I held her hand to keep her balance. I took a closer look at her out of confusion. She once had eyes like an olive leaf, but now they were as blue as a freshwater lake, and her hair that was once a dark brown, was not frozen as I had first suspected, but a shade up from white, almost like a cloudy sky. I looked around at everybody else, but no one seemed to notice. They were all breathing really fast and giving her hugs and kisses. The breath coming out of their mouths was all foggy because of the temperature, but Jackie's, her breath was a thicker fog, almost like smoke. This change could only be caused by one thing, a finding of her true nature.
I looked down at the arm of her dress that was now soaked and in shreds. through a small slit of her sleeve I saw a symbol, one I personally had never seen. It looked like a snowflake inside a two layer star.
When I approached the happy family of three, I realized that Radwan and Clair were nowhere to be seen. Clair may only be ten minutes younger than me, but she's still my little sister. I have to protect her with my life.
The blades on the bottom of everyone's shoes shattered into a million pieces so they could run faster. I grabbed Fodjours arm and told him to help me find my sister and Rodwan. He stood frantically and did a 360 to look over the lake. He also went purple in the face. he jumped up from his knees and started running. I hesitated to follow because I saw a big cloud forming in mid air. Lightning struck from the still small cloud and I heard a scream from right below it. while Fodjour still ran in the same direction he had started, I ran to the cloud to find two young teens sitting behind a large pine laughing and talking.
"We just thought we could talk for a little, while you guys ice skate." Clair pleaded. This ran through my head a thousand times. What could they possibly be laughing about. Several things became liable options. She could be talking about our times out on the fields of the biomental landscape with Fodjour and his family. Some of those times were pretty funny. She could also be talking about girl stuff, and Radwan was pretending to laugh to flatter her.
" You should have at least told someone where you were going, you scared us all half to death." I responded after a couple of awkward minutes, then I called the rest of the group over. They were all relieved that everyone was safe, but I could tell Fodjour was still a little adrenaline-filled. When Clair finally noticed that Jackie didn't look the same she got to her feet and ran to hug her and ask what happened.
I think Jackie and I were the only ones who actually new what happened. Cillian said that her hair was still white frozen from her dive in the lake, and Fodjour said she was feeling a little ill. That was why her skin was pale. But Jackie? she new what had happened; she knew she was to be a controller of ice.
She pushed off of Clair and ran to the lake. when she returned, she had something in her hands, but I couldn't tell what it was. As soon as she reached us, I saw what it was. It was a ball of ice. Everyone was confused at this point, but she continued with the demonstration. She tossed the ball in the air, and it suddenly exploded into a million pieces and they started dancing in a beautiful pattern. I felt so much thrill in my chest. So much joy. She had waited years for her element, and just like with Radwan, I gave it to her.
She pulled all the ice back into a little ball and packed it as tight as it would go. The next thing we knew there was a tiny hole in the tree to the right of my head. Inside the hole was a path of frost. Her power was dangerous, no doubt, but it was also a great beautiful gift. this could be a great start to the adventure, or at least that's what I thought a moment ago.
