Tini's POV_Take the kids Mariana. Take them and get away from here ." My father spoke, trying to keep his voice as steady as possible.
His voice sounded more like an echo, and everything was blurry in the pitch black backyard. My heart throbbed in my chest and breath hitched in my throat. The darkness and the heavy rain that soaked our clothes turned the place into a more a creepy atmosphere than it already was.
I was afraid. No, not afraid, but extremely and utterly terrified. What we feared a few days ago, was going to take place that night, in our small backyard.
I used to love that place. It's not fancy, not even close because we're not quite the rich people, but it's our home anyways. Well, used to.
_No puedo ! (I can't) I'm not gonna leave you !" My mother whispered, her sobs getting louder with every second. Her eyes were blood shot red, and her cheeks were completely wet from her tears.
My mom is not the kind to cry. If there's one way to describe her, I must say that she's very cheerful, joyful, with a child like spirit and just the right hint of kindness behind it. Probably the reason why my father fell for her in the first place. Seeing her cry, is very, very odd and painful for me.
_You need to call Pablo, remember him right ? He'll keep you and the kids safe. " My father, with eyes about to burst out of their holes from how much adrenaline ran through him, put his gun between my mother's shaky hands and put his on both sides of her face. "Keep this with you in case you need it." He explained as my mother nodded in understanding.
_But what about the-"
_Yes, give it to him. He'll know what to do."
_Okay." She nodded again, her whole body trembling.
My father looked at her for a second, planted a swift kiss on her lips then on her forehead before turning his face to my little brother.
David was crying too. Unlike other children, his cries were silent, almost unnoticeable. He was scared as hell, not for himself, but for the rest of us. And even if we could clearly see terror in his chocolate brown eyes, he did his best to hide it, even by trying to calm me down when it should've been the other way round.
_Campéon (Champion)" My father leaned in front of David's small silhouette with still a nervous expression. "When i'm not there, i need you to take care of your mom and sister for me. Can you do that ?"
_Sí papa." David sniffed, nodding his head and wiping his eyes with the heels of his muddy jacket.
_ I knew i could count on you anytime champ." My father faked a proud smile then pulled my little soaking brother into his arms. He rubbed his soft brown hair, and as my brother's sobs went a tad bit loud, my father's expression showed an agony that I will never be able to forget. The burning pain in his chest as he said his goodbyes to David, the ache of knowing they might be the last was obvious in his eyes. That only added up to why I sobbed uncontrollably and barely could stand on my feet.
My dad's eyes darted to me and my heart broke into pieces. He stood up and walked towards me, put both his hands on the sides of my neck and stared at my face.
_No te vayas papa, quedaté te lo ruego. (Don't go dad. Stay i'm begging you.)" I whispered, barely being able to talk.
My father's eyes narrowed and though it wasn't obvious in the rain, i know he cried.
_ I promise you, i'm not going to leave this house until this is all done and it's safe enough to bring you back home." He stated, looking right inside my eyes.
