Alexis POVJordyn, Callie, and I are getting ready for Prom together. Paige and Jordyn made an agreement not to see each other until they both were ready. This leads to Paige getting ready with Jake. They both set themselves up for the jokes though.
I teased Paige telling her she is the man of the relationship. They both laughed about it but then got all defensive. They say they hate when people ask who the guy in the relationship is or who wears the pants.
In my defense, I had no idea. I don't usually ask them stuff like that and it's all new to me. Luckily, they took the joke, but gave me a warning not to do it again.
Jordyn is doing Callie's hair and Callie is going to do Jordyn's. I can do my hair in my sleep, so I'm doing my own. I don't want to do anything flashy. I went with an up style because I know dancing is going to be hot so wearing it down will be no good. Our junior class, which is Jordyn and Callie's grade, got us a nice dining hall in a hotel. I'm sure they have air in there, but with all the bodies it will still be hot.
I looked over at Callie and Jordyn and they both went with their hair up as well. I put on jewelry. The earrings I put on have a lot of meaning to me. They are earrings Jake bought me. I tried to refuse them, but he insisted for me to have them. I also put on a bracelet from him. The bracelet is what every girl would call "cheap", but price means nothing to me. What matters is the person who is giving it to you.
We go downstairs and my mom starts whimpering.
"You girls look so beautiful." Here comes the tears. I looked out the window hoping the limo would show up so we could leave. "Stay right there and let me get my camera." My mom runs off.
Callie was laughing and Jordyn was shaking her head.
"Help us all." I mumble.
My mom returns to the room. She is waving for us to line up. We do as she wishes.
"Why isn't it working?" She is getting angry at the camera.
"Oh my god mom, you have to take the lens off." I swear sometimes my mom doesn't use her head.
She gets a couple of pictures in, and the limo picks us up. We were in the clear to escape my mother when Callie opened her mouth.
"Are you coming to take pictures at Derek's?"
My mom's face lights up. "The girls didn't tell me about that. I'll grab my keys and meet you there."
I glare at Callie and push her out the door. There will be plenty of parents there taking pictures. My mom doesn't need to be there. On the plus side, it will be great to see her face when Paige and Jordyn take their pictures together.
We head out to the limo and go to Derek's. The others are already there. We told them we would drive there and take the limo after, but Derek insisted it picked us up at our house. He doesn't have a problem spending his parents' money.
We get to Derek's, and I'm excited to see my guy. This is my last prom and one of my last big moments with Jake for a while. We head to Derek's back yard. When walking back there, I see Jake standing there with a group of guys.
He turns and I walk straight to him. His face lights up with a smile. Just with a week being out of his mom's he has been smiling more. It's no longer a smile to hide pain.
In his hands was a corsage. He pulls it out and places it on my arm.
"It's beautiful." I say gushing over it.
I looked up at him smiling and he was smiling back. He cleans up very nicely. Every girl in this town always gushes over Derek, but I always thought Jake was better looking. Part of it's because I know Jake beyond looks, but he is very sexy.
