School. Wait highschool specifically. My first year, but I'm not really excited. Afterall it's just highschool. I only wish my bestfriend Liz (short for Lilian) could be with me. My bestfriend Liz and I had the best time ever in elementary school but that ended after she moved to Florida. Her mom wanted to live out of New York. I guess New York is kinda boring so I guess I understand. I'm so bored. There's nothing for me to do at 9:30 p.m. Maybe Alex ( he's also one of my bestfriends) is still up. I crab my phone and slowly type in the password to my phone and starts texting Alex.

I quickly put my hoodie and sneakers on. I rushed out of my bedroom and straight to my mom. I know she won't let me go to the park at this time so I'll tell her I'm heading to the store. "Mom I'm heading to the store real quick I'll be back." My mom sat on the couch looking through documents on her Macbook. She waved her hand in a motion telling me to go as she said, " Okay just hurry back". I grabbed my keys near the front door and left. Holding onto my phone and my keys tightly in my hands I ran to the tree and met up with Alex. He looked at me confused as I breathed heavily from running. Alex quickly spoke, " So are you ok. " I took my last deep breath then looked at him, " Yeah I'm good. Are you ready to head to the swings at the park." " Yeah let's go," said Alex as he turned his back to me and walked away. We stopped walking and sat down on the first to swings. I swung back and forth in silence as Alex sat on the swing and looked up at the crescent moon. We sat in silence for awhile until I couldn't stand it anymore. I had to do something to break the silence. I thought of something quickly and before I could finish thinking I started talking. "So Alex what highschool are you going to attend tomorrow?" Alex turned his attention to me and began speaking. "I can't tell you that. It's a secret and you'll have to wait till tomorrow to find out." He looked me in my eyes and grinned teasingly. I pouted but then I slightly smirked. "Fine I"ll wait but only if you buy me a sandwich and something to drink." He looked at me surprised and confused. "What does buying you food have to do with anything?" Before I had a chance to respond to his question my phone began ringing. I looked at my phone in shock to see my mom was calling me. I answered the phone to hear my mom screaming at me. "Where are you! Get home right now you know you start school tomorrow and you know you aren't allowed to stay out on a school night! Get home right now or you'll have something waiting for you when you get home!" Before I could respond she hung up on me. I was in shock. Alex looked at me. He stood up off of the swing and grabbed me by my arm and pulled me out off of the swing. "I heard the whole conversation and you need to get home now." Alex walked me a block away from my house and gave me a hug. He wished me good luck and waved good bye as I walked across the street and into my house. When I walked into my house I met face to face with my mom. I could see the anger in her eyes. "Janae do you know what time it is? You said you were going to the store and it does not take 20 minutes to buy a snack. Now tell me where were you really?" I knew there was no way I could get out of this situation without getting hit or worse. I had no choice but to tell the truth. "I....I went to the park with Alex and we sat on the swings and talked about highschool." My mom looked at me as if I was stupid. "So you tellin me from 9:30 to 10:18 p.m you were at the park with Alex on the swings talking about highschool? Do you think I'm stupid. You know what since you grown enough to lie to me, you grown enough to pay your own phone bill for a phone you ain't going to have until I think you deserve it back. And on top of that your'e gonna bring your grown self straight home from school and I will call your sister and tell her to pick you up and bring you straight to this house. Now give me your cellphone and your house keys and send your behind straight into your room and don't let me have to talk to you again. Also go to sleep. I better not come in that room and see you awake." I felt tears slowly slide down my cheeks over and over again as i watched my mom walk into her room with my phone and keys. I ran to my room and layed on my bed and began crying. Tears wouldn't stop flowing from my eyes. That night I ended up crying myself to sleep.
