Dr. Mohannad Barakat is a recognized name in the medical sector. He is competent in all aspects of trauma surgery from simple to complex of trauma cases. These include all emergency trauma surgery, external fixation and frame ring fixation for fractures, hip fractures, long bone fractures, all hand fractures, all knee fractures, ankle fractures, adult/paediatric spine infections and others. He has also significant experience in elective surgery particularly spinal surgery. He is competent in elective procedures such as carpal tunnel release, wrist arthroscopy, spine nerve root blocks, spine microdiscectomy, spine nerve root blocks, spine canal decompression, scoliosis correction and many more.

Dr. Mohannad Barakat has fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (trauma and orthopaedics), membership of the Royal College of Surgeons and MB ChB, and Bsc Neuroanatomy honours. He has received awards in the areas of anatomy, biochemistry, physiology, pathology, orthopaedics and anaesthesia. He has co-authored several publications and some of these include Multilevel Lumbar Spinal Stenosis Decompression – Mid-term outcome using a modified Hinge osteotomy technique; An early comparison of clinical and mechanical aspects of hybrid and uncemented hip resurfacing; Bilateral hip reconstruction in severe whole-body cerebral palsy – ten year follow-up results; Leg length and offset following hip resurfacing and hip replacement and others.

His specialities include emergency medicine, ENT, genera surgery and cardiothoracic surgery. Dr. Mohannad Barakat is also involved with the teaching and examination of students, junior and senior doctors at various stages of their education, allied professionals and theatre staff. He is the holder of Oxford Teaching the Teachers Certificate, and is an examiner on the Miller FRCS (Tr and Orth) Course. He is a reviewer for the British Medical Journal, Journal of Joint and Bone Surgery and the European Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology. His hobbies include basketball, tennis, golf, volleyball, football, and cycling. He also likes traveling to foreign countries and learning about their culture and traditional values.
