Dances and Denials

(Marinette's POV)

"Come on Marinette, wake up, you're going to be late for school if you don't get up now." Tikki said flicking my face. I slowly opened my eyes and see she is inches from my nose.

shrieking, I fall out of bed. "alright, alright I'm up."

I quickly got dressed and headed downstairs, grabbing a croissant and sat down at the table since i'm in no rush because I actually woke up on time.

"Hey Marinette, how about you and me, when you get back from school, we play some video games. I am sure I can finally beat you now. I have been practicing." He cracks his knuckles and pumps a fist into the air.

"Oh, I would but don't you think I've beaten you enough times papa? besides I have homework but we can tomorrow."

I finished my croissant and kissed mama and papa before leaving for school. On the way there I saw Alya walking ahead of me. I run to catch up to her. "Hey Alya."

"Oh hey girl, did you hear about the dance coming up this weekend?"

"No. Do you have a date yet?" I asked.

"I think i'm going to ask Nino to go with me. Ever since that day at the zoo when Ladybug locked us together in that cage, we've become pretty close. And I don't know, I think he kind of likes me." Alya said and then a few moments later she gasped. "what if he says no?"

"he wont Alya, no way, don't hold back! Go for it! No regrets!"

"Isn't that what you said to Kim on Valentines day? And then Chloe totally shut him down?"

"yeah but that was Chloe ."

"You're right, Nino's not that harsh." We start heading up the steps to the doors. "Marinette, you should so totally ask Adrien to the dance."

"N-no I couldn't, I wouldn't even know how to Alya. I can't just go up to him and say 'Hey hot stuff, want to go to the dance with me this Friday'"

"Hey look! There's Nino. Watch and learn my friend." She made her way over to Nino and I could barely make out what they were saying but it was still audible. "Hey Nino." Alya began.

"Wait, Alya, There's something I have to tell you. I was wondering if you maybe wanted to go the -um dance this -uh this Friday."

Alya looked a bit taken aback. "uh sure, that's actually what I was going to talk to you about."

"Awe sweet dude! Okay later Alya! I gotta go catch up to Adrien now."

"Okay, see ya." She waved at him and I walked up to her. "See? it's that simple."

"Yeah, like that's going to happen to me." I sighed.

*Time jump to after school*

"Okay girl, Adrien's over there, oh and you'd better hurry, looks like Chloe is going to go over there too."

"Okay." I Took a deep breath. "I got this."

As I made my way over to Adrien, Alya called out to me. "No regrets!"

"H-hi Adrien!" I waved at him.

"Hey Marinette." He waved back.

"You look good today! er um I mean you look good everyday, when don't you look good? heheheh" I rub the back of my neck. I let out a groan and then cleared my throat. "Um would you like to-"

"Step aside loser." Chloe pushed me out of the way, knocking me over. "Adrikins, are you going to ask me to the dance yet? I've been waiting all day."

"Um, actually, I -uh- was, um going to go with, uhh." He glanced at me and held out his hand to help me up, a smile rising onto his face. "I'm actually going to the dance with Marinette." He slung his arm over my shoulder.

I let out a small noise and start to blush.

"What?!" Chloe stomped her foot. "You're going to the dance with her?"

"Yeah. Sorry about that." he gave her an apologetic smile.

Chloe stormed out of the room, screaming for Sabrina.

"Thanks for helping me up. Oh, and you don't have to go to the dance with me if you don't want to."

"Oh no, I'll go with you, if you want me to that is."

"Yeah, sure, who wouldn't want to go with you?" realizing what I have just said, I started to blush madly, so I looked at the ground.

Brushing off what I said he just simply said "We should hang out sometime."

"Okay Adrien." I smiled.

"Okay, I have to go now, Nathalie and Gorilla -my chauffer- are probably wondering where I am, bye Marinette." He waved.

"Bye Adrien." I waved back.

I hurry over to Alya. "Alya, Alya! guess what!"

"I know girl! I heard! I told you it would be that easy!"

We walked home.

(Lila POV from moments before)

"I'm actually going to the dance with Marinette." Adrien said to Chloe.

What?!

That's not fair! I should be the one going with Adrien, I'm way prettier than Marinette. What does he even see in her. I ran out of the classroom, away from them because I am so furious!

I run down the school stairs and notice a black butterfly flying towards me. Suddenly I heard a familiar voice in my head.

I am Hawkmoth and you are once again Volpina. Once again I am giving you the power of illusion. Capture the boy who has wronged you and lead Ladybug and Chat Noir to their doom and get their miraculous'! do not fail me again.

"I wont Hawkmoth." I promise and then transform into Volpina.
