We didn't stop running until we came to a clearing from all the trees and grass. Breathing heavy, we collapsed onto the floor.
"Phew, that, was, close!" I panted out of breath.
5 minutes later
When we had finally got our breaths back, I decided to get up to see where we had been chased to.
That tree, that collection of bricks, all the litter... That's not what we were used to... We'd ran so fast not daring to even glance behind, that we'd got lost!
"Erm guys?" I stuttered fear now overwhelming my body.
"Yeah?" Everyone replied
"Where are we?"
Everyone instantly got to their feet. Because Erin was only seven years old, she started to cry.
"Shush, it's okay! We'll find a way out right (insert name)?" Ellie asked me trying to stay positive.
"Yeah sure! We can't have run that far , can we?"
"Ooh I'll check the time it was ten passed when we left the shop, we sat down for five minutes and its now quarter to so..." Suggested Kaci.
" We ran for thirty minutes?????" Mya shouted, amazed.
" Oh! We have to be lost and I was supposed to be in for quarter to!" Cried Erin, tears now streaming down her face.
"Don't worry Erin! I know you are scared but we will get back home I promise." Ellie reassured to her.
I scanned our surroundings for a place to walk along but, most of the ground around us was covered by thick, tall, prickly grass. Unfortunately, it was the kind that doesn't hurt when you run fast through it but really, really does when you walk slowly through it.
I sat down trying desperately to think of a plan.
" Wait, we have our phones! Durr! I'll just ring mam and tell her to find us!" Said Kaci, happy as she thought we were escaping.
"Huh? No signal!!!" I said confused.
"We could try walking to find signal?" Suggested Ellie , still trying to stay optimistic.
"My legs hurt!" Whined Mya.
"Mine too!" Complained Erin.
"Okay, we aren't splitting up so lets try and sit to think for a bit?" I questioned
"Okay." Everyone replied
Half an hour later
"C'mon, its quarter past seven! Surely someone thought of something!?" Pleaded Kaci, uncomfortable and impatiently.
"Well, this used to be an old den right?" Mya asked.
"Yes, go on." We all replied eager to hear any suggestion.
"I came here when I was little and there was about seven hammocks, securely attached to the few trees behind us,"
We all got to our feet and clambered around the other side of the half broken wall.
"Please everyone grab a stick and whack the nettles back and use your hands to move the grass." Asked Mya.
"Okay." We all replied, doing as we were told.
" I found one!" Shouted Kaci pleased with herself.
"Me too!"
"And me!" Shouted Ellie and Erin
"Good, Mya! I can see two!" I yelled, diving deeper through the grass, whilst yanking it all out.
"Where????" Mya yelled in reply.
I pointed to where about the hammocks lay and immediately me and Mya were pulling out all the surrounding grass. At least we had a place to sleep!
" I have food and water, well chocolate sweets and pop! Tee hee!" Laughed Kaci.
" Well it won't do us any harm if we burn it off walking or running." Said Ellie conscious of her weight.
"I hope it doesn't rain!" Moaned Erin.
"whadya mean?" Replied Mya
"Look up!"
It was almost as if God was keeping us safe- there was a sort of shedy greenhouse roof above us, the one that slants so the rain falls off.
"Also, that stream over there is as clean and fresh as day!" I said happily.
"We can easy wash us and our clothes in there!"
"Wait, Did I or Didn't I?" Muttered Kaci to herself.
"I did!" She shouted gleefully, pulling out body wash and shampoo from her bag.
"How'd ya get that?" Mya inquired, curious.
"This is my swimming bag and because of the incident with the bottles if pop the other day I thought bringing a bag to put them in was a sensible idea and I must of forgot to take those out!"
"GREAT!!!!" We all shouted.
"Now, what's the time?" Erin asked, yawning.
" Twenty past eight! Wow time flies! Anyway time to get to sleep,as you will probably wake up early in the morning or be awoken in your sleep." I said, being the responsible one.
"Woken up... What by??" Stuttered Erin, Mya, Kaci and Ellie scared stiff.
"Only the cold, and you might not be!" I replied
"Now Night! Xxx"
Everyone replied in their own way. We were safe or, for the moment being...
