Pepper and I were in the penthouse waiting for my father to return from the Atlantic Ocean. He was putting the Stark Energy Reacter into one of the pipelines. I hear my dad's voice on the computer him and Pepper are talking on.
"Stark Tower is about to become a beacon of self-sustaining clean energy" my dad said.
I sit on the couch and listen to their conversation.
"Wow. So maybe our reactor takes over and it actually works?" Pepper said.
"I assume. Light her up" he said.
I stand up and look out the window as my father flies towards the building. Pepper hits a button and the Stark sign lights up.
"How does it look?" Pepper asked.
"Like Christmas but with more... me."
My dad arrives at his skyscraper penthouse and is in the process of taking off his IRON MAN suit through a hi-tech gauntlet of gadgets.
"Sir, Agent Coulson of SHIELD is on the line" Jarvis said.
"Huh Phils here" I said and smiled. Phil was a very close friend of mine. He helped me train alongside the best agents S.H.I.E.L.D has to offer.
"I'm not in, I'm actually out" he says.
"I'm afraid he's insisting" Jarvis said.
"Close the line Jarvis. I got a date."
"Levels are holding steady" Pepper voice fades into the background as I looked out the window.
I've had my powers for about 12 years and sometimes it still hits me hard. There will be times where I can't control it and I end up hurting a lot of people. I look at the blue fire lighting up in my hand. I'm in control about 95% of the time.
My thoughts were interrupted when Jarvis said "Sir, the telephone. I'm afraid my protocols are being overwritten."
I walk over and sit on the couch. I grab a glass and poor some champagne. "Stark, we need to talk." My dad picks up the phone and looks at Coulson.
"You have reached the life model decoy of Tony Stark, please leave a message."
"It's urgent" Phil insists.
"Then leave it urgently" my dad said.
Then the elevator props open and standing behind the elevator doors is Phil Coulson.
"Phil!" Pepper and I say simultaneously.
"Security breach!" my dad says.
Pepper and I walk up to him to greet him.
"Mr. Stark" he says.
I hug him and said "Uh Phil it's been so long."
"Phil? Uh his first name is Agent" my father said. "Dad be nice" I said.
"Phil come on in. We're celebrating" Pepper said. "Which is why he can't stay" my dad whispers.
"We need you to look over this" Phil said and handed him some files.
Bad move Phil.
"I don't like being handed things" my dad said.
"That's fine because I love being handed things" I said. "So let's trade." I pass my glass of champagne to Coulson and take the file from him, then I take the champagne glass from my dad and I pass the file over to my father.
"Official consulting hours are between eight and five every other Thursday" my dad said while looking at Phil.
"This isn't a consultation" Phil said sternly. He's pretty shaken up. I've never seen him like this.
"Is this about the Avengers which I...I know nothing about" Pepper quickly retracts her statement.
"The Avengers Initiative was scrapped, I thought. And I didn't even qualify" he said while he walked towards his desk.
"I didn't know that either" Pepper said.
"Yeah, apparently I'm volatile, self- obsessed, don't play well with others."
"That I did know" Pepper said.
"This isn't about personality profiles anymore" he said once again very sternly.
"Whatever. Miss Potts, Miss Stark got a minute?"
We walk over to him and he places the file into his own database.
"You know I thought we were having a moment" my dad said.
"I was having twelve percent of the moment. This seems serious. Phil's pretty shaken up" she said.
"How did you notice? Why is he Phil?" my dad said.
"Just drop it dad. What is this?" I asked.
"This is, uh..." my dad expands his arms and different profiles appear in holographic form floating in the air in front of us. Screens appear of Captain America in action, the Hulk roaring as he attacks the army at Culver University, Thor fighting the destroyer, and another is of Loki and the Tesseract, to which the 3 of us look on in awe.
"I'm taking the jet to DC tonight" Pepper said. "Yea I'm going with her" I said.
"Actually Director Fury wants you to help Jade. He could use all the help he can get" Phil said.
"Oh no. She's not ready" my dad said.
"Stark she's been training for 10 years, I think she's more than ready" Phil said.
My dad looks over at me and ask "Do you want to do this?" A look of concern washes over his face. "That's why I've been training. I have been on missions before dad" I said. He sighs "Yea but not as big as this mission" he said. "I'm ready" I said. He sighs "Okay she's in."
"Alright you two have got a lot of homework" she said.
"What if I didn't?" my dad asked her.
"Well then..." she starts to whisper in his ear and both Phil and I look away awkwardly.
"Square deal" he said.
Pepper kisses him and then walks over to me. She hugs me and kisses my forehead. "Be careful" she whispers.
"Work hard you two."
She walks towards Phil and asked him if he's passing by the airport. My dad grabs the Tesseract in hologram form and looks worried.
