Walk Away

Chapter Four: Karmin's Pov.

"KARMIN, LET ME IN." I couldn't, I tried to stand up. My body was to frail, I couldn't move. It was like my mind was with me but my body was somewhere else. "KARMIN!" "Daniel." I whispered. My voice was numb, I could barley make a sound. Suddenly, a bang followed by a screech come from down stairs along with a thud of two feet. "KARMIN?" "Daniel.." My voice was faint to his ears, luckily he heard me.

The tall white door creaked open ever so slowly before a 5'9 boy walked in. His dark brown hair was disheveled, his eyes were reddened and puffy. His lanky body bent over towards me, his hand stretched out to touch my pale skin. His index finger brushed against my bruised cheek, I winced slightly. He immediately pulled his hand back. "I'm sorry." His voice rang low. "It's not your fault." "But it is, Karmin. I should have been in your life more. You'd never be in this situation if I would have just been here instead of being so selfish." "Daniel, none of this is your fault. Don't blame yourself, please. Even if you would have been here this still would have happened. You would have loved Liam, he's a great guy-" He cut me off, "Great guy? GREAT GUY? KARMIN LOOK AT WHAT HE DID TO YOU. LOOK AT YOU!" "He is a great guy, he is. You don't understand, Daniel." "Don't Understand? What I understand is that the sick fuck beats you." "He only does this when he drinks." "And how often is that?" I looked away from him, I wanted nothing more than to lie but I knew he'd see right through it. "Exactly. That's why I'm here, right?" I didn't answer. "Right?"

"Fuck, Karmin. Answer me." "I-i-i-" "Damn it, just forget it. Where are your bags?" I pointed behind him, to the dark corner that held my bags. He raced over and snatched them up quickly, before running down the stairs. When he stepped back into the room his breathing was uneven and heavy. "C-come on." He walked over to me sliding his arms under me picking me up, keeping his grip on me tight. He begun to rush down the stairs.

"KARMIN, WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING? You're not leaving me!" Liam appeared from the black of the night. The moon light shined down upon him, revealing yet an even drunker Liam than hours before. "YOU ARE NOT LEAVING. PUT HER DOWN BEFORE I KICK BOTH OF YOUR ASSES." Daniel shook his head aggressively, setting me down gently he brought his mouth to my ear. "Go, run. Get in the car and lock the doors. Now!" I did as he told, limping my way there. As soon as I reached the car I struggled to get in. I looked back slightly seeing Liam walking my way. Daniel wasn't far behind him. "Don't get in that car, Karmin." I ignored him, slipping into the car anyway. I searched for the switch that locked the doors but before I could reach it Liam had my door open and was already tugging on my arm. "Let her go." Daniel demanded. Liam laughed, "Get out." I tried to buckle myself in the seat but his grip begun to tighten, bruising my arm again. It hurt, tears sprung to my eyes. "I SAID GET OUT." He grabbed my leg with his free hand dragging me out of the car and onto the dirt. His heavy foot made fierce contact with my side. I cried out in pain. I couldn't see, I kept my eyes closed tight. I didn't want to see the world anymore. I didn't want to live. The last thing that ran through my ears was Daniel's weakening voice targeting at Liam.
