Day’s later and we were still rebuilding homes and mourning losses. The air was thick from the smoke from the pyres. There were no smiles and no laughs. The villagers were a mess. Their once perfectly groomed hair were rat’s-nests and their clothes rumpled.  There were only around 20 people left now.

I skirted around the edges of the village watching the people trudge along fearfully. Part of me pitied them but the other part though they got just what they deserved. Even now when they were broken they avoided me like I was a walking plague. I sighed and headed back to my shack.

Exhausted I fell onto my bed and fell asleep. Unfortunately for me the villagers were plotting. I dreamed of running through the forest. Something was chasing me.

I awoke with a start. Many of the village men surrounded me. I had thick steel cuffs around my wrists with a long chain that the Chief held. I stared at them in shock. What in the world were they doing”

They all looked so afraid and angry at me. None of them looked me in the eyes. The Chief looked at me grimly and dragged me by the chain out of my sanctuary. ‘What?! What’s going on!?” One of the men pushed me. “Silence. You will find out soon enough”

I walked in a daze. Down the street with all the villagers watching. No one tried to help or said a thing. The sun was nearing the halfway mark in the sky, it’s warmth did nothing to comfort me like it used to. I was led to the center of the village. Standing there was the Lyall’s prince with five others. The prince watched as I was dragged towards them. I was confused.

After all they did to us why were the Lyall’s here alive and unharmed while I was in chains? As we came a few yards away we stopped. All the men were visibly tense. “Here is my Daughter.” The Chief lied. My eyes widened. Why does he lie?

Then it hit me. He was using me as a scape goat for his daughter. The prince laughed. “This is clearly not your daughter. If she was you wouldn’t be so compliant and she wouldn’t be in chains. Either way I will take her.” “What!?? Take me?! What’s going on!” I nearly shouted. One of the vilage men turned and back handed me. “I said be quiet!” I stared at them all wide eyed.

The Chief nodded and stepped forward handing the prince the chain that held be captive along with a small silver key. “Now leave us in peace.” The prince smiled. “Of course.” he turned to me. “Come along.” I struggled all the way but he was too strong for me. As we left the village I spotted Cashlin smiling at me. She waved sweetly at me. The wench. She should be here not me.

One of the men tuned to the prince. He had dark yellow hair and matching eyes. “Ulrick, what do we do with the girl? We can’t have her know the way.” The prince ,Ulrick, looked at me with his brilliant yellow eyes. “No I suppose we can’t.” He motioned to one of his men who came at me I barely had a chance to yell out before the pommel of his sword cam hard on my head knocking me out.

When I awoke I was still chained. I was in a cage. Metal bars all around me and wood for a ceiling and floor. I was in a room of some sort and the more I looked around the more horrified I was. I was in some one’s bedroom. There was a huge bed that was all messed up with pillows and blankets thrown around. Swords and other various weapons hung on the walls.

In my small cage I had enough room to lay if I was curled up a bit and stand. All there was was a blanket made of what seemed to be cotton. I tentatively touched on of the bars. The metal was cold to the touch. I rested my forehead against it.
