I heard the startling sound of my alarm. I jumped up and slammed the button located on the top of the alarm to stop it. My head was pounding as I glanced at the time. The time read 5:30 AM and it was time to get up. I layed in my bed staring at the clock, watching it change time until the clock read 5:35. I pulled my blankets off of me. As my body hit the air, I felt the cold chill from the cold air run through my spine. I was only wearing underwear and a light tank-top.
Shivering, I sat up in my bed and turned to my right to step down off of my bed. I slowly touched my toes to the cold wooden floor and stood up. I crossed my arms in hope of feeling warmer, as I headed toward the bathroom. I walked into the bathroom, and stripped down until I was completely undressed. I stepped into the shower and turned on the water. At first, the water felt cold, but I added heat until it was a comfortable temperature.
I showered slowly, with silent thoughts. When I was finished, I turned off the water, and i ringed out my hair so it wouldn't drip. I then opened the shower curtain and moved through the fog from my shower toward my bathroom mirror. I used my hand to clear my mirror until I could see my face. Mascara and eyeliner had dripped down onto my cheeks, I looked terrifying. I picked up a washcloth and wiped my face off until it was clear of makeup.
I picked up a towel and wrapped it around me, as I stepped out of the bathroom. I walked back to my bedroom and picked my cellphone up from off the nightstand. I pushed on the home button to view no notifications. I unlocked my phone and scrolled through my messages until I found a specific person, still no messages. I then picked up a picture from off my nightstand. I fell onto my bed with the picture, and began to feel tears falling down my cheeks.
"Katherine!" my mother called from downstairs. I sat there unable to speak, unable to move. I stared at the wall clenching the picture in my hand. My mother called again and again, but it was as if I couldn't even hear her. After a few minutes of her calling, I sat up and looked at the picture one last time. I yelled "I'm getting dressed!" to my mother, and then I placed the picture back on the nightstand. I then went to my closet and glided my hand across all my clothes. I stopped my hand at a blue sweatshirt I bought at a Shawn Mendes concert I went to with my best friend, Jack Nessel. I took the sweatshirt off the hanger, and threw it onto my bed. I then moved to my dresser and picked out a bra, underwear, and a pair of my favorite skinny jeans from Hollister. I then got dressed quickly, and made my way out of my room and down the stairs.
I walked into the kitchen to my mother making breakfast. My mother looked at me in concern. She touched my cheek and said, "Katherine, is everything okay? You look a little pale." I replied with "Yes mom." and looked down at my plate. My mother had already placed two pancakes on my plate. "I'm not really hungry. I'm going to go finish getting ready." I said. Before my mother could respond, I walked out of the kitchen and back up to my room. I walked into my room and gathered my books together for school.
I picked up my backpack, and placed the books I gathered inside. I then zipped up my bag and threw it over my shoulders. I walked out of my room and down the stairs. I headed toward the door where my shoes were. I put on my black converse shoes, and walked out the door. I then realized I forgot to brush my teeth and hair. I then ran back inside up to my bathroom. I quickly brushed my hair, and my teeth, and then rushed in my room to grab my phone. I then ran back downstairs and outside. By the time I got outside, the bus was waiting for me. I rushed to my bus, and stepped on.
The bus was full, and I walked down the bus aisle slowly. Jack Nessel sat in the third seat from the front on the left side. I looked at him as he angrily placed his backpack beside him so I couldn't sit there. I quickly sat with Jaylen Ressoi because there were no other available seats. Jaylen smelled of sweat, so I covered my nose with my sweatshirt, to help avoid the smell. I pulled my phone from my pocket and unlocked it. I checked my messages once more, and still nothing. I looked at Jack who was across from me, and he turned his body away from me. A single tear fell down my cheek, and I wiped it quickly.
