When I arrived at school, I stood up and moved in the bus aisle to get off the bus. When I stepped off the bus, I walked toward the school entrance. There were many students in front of me, and behind me. Suddenly, Sandro Bottelup placed his hand on my shoulder. "Hey Katherine!" he said, making me jump. "Sandro, please go." I said as I moved his hand off of my shoulder. "You're so cute when you get mad." he replied smirking. I gave him a repelling look. "I'll catch you later Katherine!" he said grabbing my chin, and he walked away.

By that point, I was in the school, thinking about what class I had first. I had Global history with Mr. Pine in room 202. So, I started up the stairs toward room 202. When I got to the second floor, I turned to my right, and there he was, Jack Nessel. The person I used to call my best friend was fine without me, walking with his popular friends. He glared at me in disgust as if I was some person he hated. However, maybe he did hate me. I looked down at my feet and quickly moved past him. I fastly sped toward the girls bathroom, and rushed inside.

When there was nobody inside, I dropped my bag and put my back against the wall. I began to breathe heavily, and felt tears rushing down my cheeks. My heart was beating loud in my ears, and I shut my eyes tightly, letting more tears out. I took a deep breath, and relaxed myself. I felt empty and broken, and I could do nothing about it.

I just didn't understand how I could be so stupid. I lost my best friend, the one person I trusted, the one person I confided in with everything. I stood up and wiped my wet cheeks with my sweatshirt sleeve. I missed Jack Nessel, there was nobody in the world like Jack Nessel.

A few hours later, I was in my third class. Mrs. Wazza was lecturing about school age children heights. A few seconds later, there was a loud sound that made everyone jump in their seats. At that moment, everyone remained quiet and we all looked at each other in fright. Then, someone spoke on the loudspeaker "Teachers, if you could please check your emails". Mrs. Wazza walked over to her desk. Everyone in the classroom started murmuring. I took out my cellphone and sent a message to Jack saying, "What's going on?" However, when I checked a few moments later, he had read and ignored my message.

Mrs. Wazza stood up and said, "You're all having early dismissal." Everyone cheered and gathered their things together. All of a sudden, the power went out. I looked out the window from my seat to see everything was off. Everyone began crowding the windows, so I walked over too. In the distance, there was fire falling from the sky. You could see people getting out of their cars and rushing away.

Everyone in my class began taking out their phones and recording. I ran out of the classroom and into the hall. Then Sandro Bottelup came over to me and pulled me aside. "Common, follow me." he said. Sandro pulled me to an elevator, and pulled a key from his pocket. He unlocked the elevator, but the power was out so it didn't work. So, Sandro pulled me to a door and opened it. It was stairs leading to the basement. "My father works for the government. He told me to find the basement, but I wasn't leaving without knowing you were safe." he said as he tugged me down the stairs. When we reached the basement, it was dark. Sandro pulled a flashlight from his pocket and guided me to under a desk.

"What is going on?" I asked. "I don't know, but this is what my father told me to do while I was at school. So, he knew this was going to happen." he replied. "So now what do we do?" I asked. "I dont know, just try and sleep or something, we're going to be here for a while." he replied. I tried to lean against the wood of the desk, and Sandro saw that I was uncomfortable. He put his arm around me, so I leaned my head onto his shoulder and shut my eyes.
