"Hey," the sound of someone addressing me brought me out of writing the story.
I jerked up to look at the person who dared to hinder me from writing the story that I was so engrossed in.The small cubicle that I was assigned to made space limited for any work but I knew with this story, i'd maybe liable for a promotion. I spun around in my chair to answer the person, to see my boss standing in front of me with a slight smile on him face.
"Your well engrossed aren't you?" He asked amusingly. I always seem to amuse him and I don't even try.
"Yes, I love my work." I answered proudly.
"I love something else though," he said under his breathe. I blinked.
"What did you say?" I asked unsure.
"I said I would love to hear one of your best though," he responded firmly, a mischievous glint in his eyes, " your story that is."
I didn't answer as I studied him, tall, 6,2.5, black midnight hair, dark blue eyes, side burns neatly lined, tan skinned, neatly and devilishly suited man in front of me. Sexy.
He's your boss! I mentally screamed in my head.
"... so what do you say?" I was remained of his presence.
"Huh?" I asked dumbly, not hearing the words that had first come from those pink plumped lips that seemed to draw me in. Damn.
I slapped myself in the head.
"Did you just?" A smile from the my sexy... Boss had my stomach doing summer assaults.
Embarrassment washed over me as his words registered in my brain.
"Umm... The damn mosquito was there, didn't you see it?" I quickly made up a story. This was what I was good at, writing stories on the spot. I commended my self and did a victory dance in my head when Mr. Boss smile disappeared and a worried look covered his features.
"No I didn't, are you okay?" His hands reached out to touch me on my shoulder and if I was able to blush, I would be like a tomato squashed out for all eyes.
"So, as I was asking.. Umm.. Would you.." Mr. Boss started nervously, running his long fingers, oh those finger, the things they could do. Boss Kristina, he's your Boss! My conscience warned me. Before my boss could finish, though, he was cut off by my manager.
"Hey Kristina, would you like to have coffee with me today?" He didn't seem to be aware of his boss standing on the opposite side of the cubicle.
I looked over at my boss then to my manager whom was standing expecting an answer.
"Sure," I responded with a reassured smile.
"Today, at lunch?" He asked.
"That'll be good," with the smile still plastered on my face I turned back to my boss after watching my manager strut off with a newfound bounce in his step. I shook my head. Men.
"You were saying something?" I asked my boss who's expression changed from his smiling, mischievous self to a grim and stern man.
"No. Get back to work," he said firmly, his cold eyes glaring at me. What the hell just went down?
I rolled my eyes and continued my writing. Men.
-------------
Three hours of lone story writing had my stomach growling, my back aching, my feet weak and my bottom flat from sitting in one space for so long, the slightness move caused me to here a crick, shit.
I looked on my watch checking the time. Exactly what I thought, lunch time.
I gathered my phone and purse into my handbag before heading to the elevator downwards.
When I heard the ding of the elevator and watched the door opening, I stepped outside, smiling slightly when I saw my manager, Jeremy, standing waiting on me.
I started to strut towards him, swinging my hips dramatically, maybe he was the one, maybe I'd finally find love, I sighed.
Love? If that even existed."Ms. Manderson," someone behind me called, drawing my attention.
I turned to the person at the front desk reading his name tag, Jake, nice name I thought. "Yes?"
"Sorry to interrupt your thought session but Mr. King would like to see you in his office. It seemed to be urgent," Jake told be hurriedly, fear shinning in his eyes, his hand still holding the phone firmly to his ear.
My heart started to beat faster as I thanked Jake and made my way back to the elevator. I glanced back to Jeremy hoping he would look around but he did so I pressed the upwards bottom in the elevator, my belly cry out in desperation. That coffee would do me justice right I thought. An I'll tell Jeremy later.
When the elevator stopped, I stepped out of the it and looked at the empty cubicle's I was passing and sighed, pushing my legs to involuntarily move.
I made my way toward the big man's office.
I sighed once more. Was he going to fire me? Why would he? Was that what he going to do earlier? Then why didn't he? I was suddenly having and head ache, probably from the lack of food. Another heavy sigh left me as I knocked on the double doors."Come in," the commanding voice of my boss called and I tentatively pushed the door open.
I peeked my head in first, the sight caught my sight immediately. The city's view that was only shown on one side because of the tint of a huge glass. A table stood in the middle on the biggest office I've ever seen, like I've been in any other office, ever, with papers scattered all over it, a broad black chair sat behind it. To the right of the table was black settee stretched comfortably on the wall.
To the left held a little table with delicious pastries on it. My belly grumbled. I held my gazed on something on the table quizzically. I then looked up to see my damn sexy looking boss standing beside the table, his tie loosened, his shirt sleeves rolled up and a devious smile on those plump sexy. I glanced on the coffee cups, the coffee pot beside them and then to the man standing over the coffee. He then asked still holding his smirk.
"Coffee?"
