Miracle's pov

What a beautiful day I thought to myself as I walked past the various colored rose bushes toward the coffee shop I visited every morning before classes start. The wind hitting my face caused a slight shiver to run through my body. My dark brown hair whipped around my face causing me to grab it and move it to the side. I'm glad I wore jeans with no holes and my button up flannel paired with my black sweater.
"Hey Miracle! Hold on!"
I turned to see who had yelled my name and saw my friend Ruby lightly jogging toward me flailing her arms, so I wouldn't miss her. I stopped and waited for her to catch up to me. I took a sec to admire how beautiful my friend looked. Her jet black hair pulled to a high pony tail while her bangs whipped lightly in the wind. She had her favorite white jeans on with a Naruto sweater.

As she approached me she held her arms out for a hug which I so graciously took. She pulled away from our hug to punch my upper arm.
"Hey! What was that for? " I said while lightly laughing. I rubbed the part where she had punched me.
"That my friend was for leaving without me!" She said lightly raising her voice. I once again laughed at her which caused her to fake cry.
"How could you? I thought we had something special!?" She said as if in a telenovela. Playing along I grabbed her hands and said "We do! I just thought you'd be better without me!" I let go of her hands as I turn away while grabbing my chest over my heart. After being that way in silence for a while we busted out laughing and continued walking toward our destination.

"So why didn't you wait for me?" Ruby asked while adjusting the straps on her purse.
"I can't go to class without my morning coffee and muffin. Also, you weren't waking up, so I just happily started my great adventure toward the coffee shop alone." I explained while being over dramatic as per usual.
"Well-great adventurer I apologize for not waking up I had partied a bit too much last night, but I still managed to catch up so yay me!" She said while giving me a big cheesy smile
I nudged her arm while matching her cheesy smile.  The rest of the way there we walked in blissful silence.

As we walked into the coffee shop my nostrils were greeted by the smell of baked goods mixed with the smell of coffee. The place looked as beautiful as ever with the new book shelves they put in the other day. They rearranged the very real looking vines to look as if they had taken over the book shelves which I thought was a very magical concept. The fairy lights hung around the new reading area which gave the coffee shop a more mystical vibe which I was living for. The coffee colored tables with the mint green chairs complimented each other perfectly.

The smell and aesthetic of the coffee shop always put me in a better mood and calmed my nerves. Over the course of a few months this coffee shop has became my safe place. After moving to Sea Park the first thing I did was look for a coffee shop I could spend hours at, and that's how I found " Java Jive".  A hand grabbing my shoulder jolted me from my thoughts. "Woah it's just me." Ruby said as she held her hands up as if to show she meant no harm.
I relaxed a bit and felt awkward due to the way I reacted.
"Sorry about that I've been through some things that cause me to react that way." I tried to explain to her but she held her hand up to my face and said "Nope. No need for explanations. I didn't mean to spook you. " I nodded and gestured toward the counter so we can order. I grabbed my usual which was a coffee with vanilla creamer and a bit too much sugar and a a banana bread muffin. Ruby got iced tea and a breakfast sandwich. Once our order was ready we headed toward school.
"I heard that Jones was gonna have us do a project that would be due at the end of the semester." Ruby told me as she sipped her tea.
"Sounds fun." I said sarcastically while feigning excitement.
She laughed at my statement and agreed.

As we approached Sea park college I start to dread the idea of sitting in class listening to teachers talk for hours. I popped in my ear phones just as Ruby popped hers in and we walked side by side toward our classes a bit faster than usual since our coffee trip did cost us some time. While sipping on my coffee someone bumped me causing my coffee to spill on my sweater and my ear bud to drop from my ear. Ruby turned to me and gasped and told me to hold on while she goes gets some wipes to help me clean up.
"Hey! Watch where your going! You could have spilt that on me."  A boy  with black hair and hazel eyes said to me as he turned to face the person he bumped into.
"Excuse me but you bumped into me." I said holding back the annoyance I felt. I don't want problems or unwanted attention.
"Yeah so what, you should have moved." He exclaimed while walking away toward what I assume are his friends.
Ruby came back not too long after and helped me clean my shirt up. Thankfully I didn't stain too bad and was hardly noticeable.

Both Ruby and I made it to class on time but just barley. After cleaning my sweater we practically had to jog to class to make it in time. We walked in and sat down ready for class to start
"Good morning we have a new student joining us." Said Mr. Jones while gesturing for someone to come into class.
We all looked toward the door and watched as the new student walked in. As soon as my eyes landed on him I felt irritated. It was the boy that bumped me earlier.
"Introduce yourself."
"Sup. I'm Mark." Mark said seeming unbothered.
"Yes "sup" now take a seat." Mr.Jones said while shooing him away.
"Now class we're going to be having a semester long project and I'll be assigning you your partners."
Mr.Jones began to yell out the partners and I waited patiently to hear my name. I wasn't too exited since Ruby was pair with some chick I didn't know.
"Miracle you'll be paired with Mark."
I slumped into my chair and sighed heavily.
