Alfie's POV

"Hmmm what do you think about this one?" Michelle says for the millionth time as she holds a blue top up to her body. I just nod my head, not really listening to what she is saying.
"Alfie!" she shouts. I snap out of my daydream and look at her.
"Hm?" I question.
"Ugh your so annoying!" she screeches, causing a scene. I look around at the people now staring. Good one Michelle.
"You know what, I'll just take them all" she says snobbish like. I walk behind her to the counter.
"$250 please"
"Really? That's it?" She laughs. I just scoff.
"What's your problem?" She says annoyed like.
"Nothing it's just actually never mind you probably don't care"
"If you have a problem, say it?" She says faking a smile.
"Well you think $250 on clothes is nothing when some people can hardly afford half this stuff"
"If your referring to the geeky nerd Riley I swear I'll rip your throat out" she threatens.
"What? I'm referring to everyone not just Riley" I roll my eyes and walk out of the shop. I don't bother waiting for her so I go sit in the food court.
"Oh hey Alfie" I hear a familiar voice say about 20mins later. I turn around and see Riley with a smile and two drinks in her hand.
"Hey Riles" I half smile. She smiles back sheepishly. I give her a questioned look but she quilt changes the subject without there even being a subject.
"So uh, what exactly are you doing here, alone, in the food court, with no food" she laughs.
"Well it's just how I like to spend my Sunday's. Why? Are you judging me?" I joke.
"Oh my god no. I'm sorry, I'm not judging I swear" she panics.
"Riley, it's fine" I laugh. Her face goes from serious to sad in an instant.
"Why would you do that to me?" She starts sobbing "you know I get teased everyday and I can't differ a joke from serious anymore cause a people like you"
Oh my god. What have a done! I quickly stand up an confront her.
"Riley I'm sorry it was A joke I swear!"
"Hah! That's what you get for joking with me" she snarks and kicks my shin.
"Ha ha very funny. I thought you were being serious" I sit back down and she sits down opposite me.
"Wanna drink? The cashier gave me two by mistake and wouldn't take it back" she offers.
"Oh thanks" I smile. She grins back.
"So this is where you've been?!" A horrible voice screeches behind me. Oh god. Riley's eyes go wide and she instantly cowers.
"Michelle chill-"
"I will not chill! I've been wandering around for ages trying to find you and when I do your with the peasant girl"
I take in her appearance and see she has her nails and hair done. I give her a questioning look.
"If you have nothing to say for yourself then we're over. You can have this waste of space over here to yourself. Say goodbye to your reputation and basically life cause without me you are nothing and with her well, you might as well join hers and that peanut heads group"
I don't say anything. Honestly I'm trying to hold back a laugh.
"Fine. We are over" she squeaks before she whips her head around and storms off.
"Awkward" I say raising the pitch in my voice. I notice Riley is starting to pack up her stuff.
"Hey wait, where are you going?"
"I'm leaving" she says angrily.
"Why?" I ask in confusion.
"Cause you just sat there while she totally insulted me"
"I didn't agree with what she was saying" I say defensively
"You didn't stop her either" a look of betrayal flashes across her face.
"Riley"
"I'll see you tomorrow" she walks always hurriedly. I lean back in my chair and continue drinking the drink she gave me.
Why do I feel like I've just lost Riley? And why do I feel guilty for not standing up for her?
