Elsa
My silent laughter almost falls through a facade. I bottle it up and push it down.
I was meant to be a true cold-hearted queen, one of malicious intent who is not afraid to chastise those who have wronged her. I am not meant to be my hero of my story.
I inherited my birthright and became the queen of my former kingdom. I do not wish to take on those responsibilities ever again. I just want my fighting to end.
"Kristoff," I call. "Now that I am here, what am I supposed to do?"
"You, Else, are here to reunite your kingdom."
I cut him off, "This is not my kingdom. I have it up. Stop calling it mine."
He remains unfazed. "Okay, okay. Arendelle needs you, Elsa. Don't you see?"
"No, Kristoff, I do not see. I will never see. Don't you know that my mind is now incapable of seeing the good in things? My mind has been corrupted by voices that won't let me think for myself. I am unpure and impurities do not belong on the throne."
He does not reply immediately. "Then what can I do to make your realize what is truly at stake here?" he asks. "Your mind has become more pure than you think since we rescued you from Liliander. Don't you realize that you are becoming more and more like you former self, again?"
I haven't thought about the lighter side of this darkened situation. I did not realize that.
"No," I answer. "It doesn't matter anyway, no one will want to follow me." I grimace. "You have no idea what I've done."
He says after a silence, "I would follow you."
"So would I," Olaf perks up.
"But you two are the ones trying to make me return. It's not the same."
"You're right, I suppose," Kristoff says. "It's not. But it doesn't mean others wouldn't, because how many people have you asked? Hmm, Elsa, hmm?"
"Stop acting like a child, Kristoff," I say playfully and almost grin, before quickly adding, "I already told you, though, I do not wish to be on the throne of Arendelle!"
"But where would you go?"
"I already told you," I snap. "Off far away and I would never return."
"So why haven't you left yet?"
"Because- because," I stutter. "I'm waiting for Anna. I need to say goodbye to her." That is the most pure thought I've had of her since she betrayed me. I scorn myself silently; I'm not supposed to care.
"So you will allow Anna your throne, instead?" He raises his eyebrows.
"I don't care if she takes it or not." I've answered a million questions. "It's her choice to make, not mine and not yours either," I sigh. "I'm tired of running from this issue."
"So you will face it head on like a queen?"
"I never said that," I snap but without anger.
"I'm going to destroy it head on." I saunter up to him and level our eyes. I'm going to attempt one more time to appeal to him that he needs to let me go. Let it go, because I'm not even myself anymore.
"I'm done trying to fix things. I am finished listening to the tiny voices that drive me insane. So I'm going to listen to myself, even though I may not know that girl anymore. I only yearn for solace and if to achieve that I must kill you and Anna, do not think for a second that I will not do it. I just won't have your blood staining my hands."
His eyes freeze onto mine; he doesn't fidget nor run like I was hoping he might. And then I conclude that there is no mercy in this game.
"Like this." And I begin to weave my intricacy.
Author's Ending Note:
So this is how it ends - at the climax, on a suspension (sarcasm intended).
It has been too long, guys! It's been about a year since I've updated, and even this part is short :( I just decided to post it like this because it's what I had written a time ago. I intend to continue editing this periodically, along with my other completed work, but Frozen will not receive further updates.
Also, I'm sure you noticed, Elsa's motives and personality toward others was so indecisive throughout the story; she was constantly suspended between: I want to end your life and leave forever to I want to rescue myself and be queen. I'm annoyed at myself for that lol, so I'll be revising her character.
Anyway, thank you so much for reading! ♡
