a canvas I didn't paint

portrait I didn't sketch

but I am the subject

song I didn't sing

but a serenade for me

you're a poem I didn't recite

book I didn't write

but when I read it

it's my biography

you're an opera I didn't direct

a film I didn't produce

a play I didn't act

but eyes are on me

you're an instrument I can't play

a ball I cannot shoot

a team I cannot lead

but I'm a big fan

you're a recipe I can't cook

a coffee too strong

chocolates so sweet

yet my favorite

you're a law that I can't follow

a history no one knew

promises that never made

but memories can't be erased

you're a paradise I've never been

a palace I've never seen

but you treated me your queen

you're a home I didn't build

with children I didn't bear

and a man I can not have

but you gave me your love

you are my knight

my tears, your sword

my heart is your armour

my soul is your shield
