I no longer have patience for childish things.
I have no tolerance for immature pursuits.
The "he said she said"
Of high school drama.
Or keeping up with Who's dating
whom.
Do not love me childishly.
I want no empty promises.
Teddy bears and
chocolate Are nice,
but
I want substance and depth.
Talk to me about religion,
Or sex, or theories.
I have no interest in
The weather, what you did today,
Or what happened at the
Party Friday night.
Soon enough, we shall be adults.
We need to put our
Trivial desires behind us.
Focus on productive pursuits.
Stop worrying about the party
You just missed.
And study for your finals.
Do not come to me with
"Juicy gossip."
Come to me with ideas.
With current events.
Controversial topics.
These are the things worth discussing.
So do not come to me with anything less.
