Chapter 2 : Adam

-

Jack buried his feet in the sand and leaned back, breathing in the beach air. His dad lied next him slightly snoring with that stupid book of his on his face.

Ashley, his little sister, came running up from the ocean to him.

"Jack! Jack!" She laughed playfully and her hair flipped with the warm wind.

She paused and suddenly her face darkened and her voice deepened. The sky grew violent.

"WAKE UP, WAKE UP!!!

Jacks reply was muffled and with a flash if light he regained consciousness.

A dream.

The room he was in nearly pitch black and ice cold, he tried to stand but restraints kept him down to the small chair.

He tried to yell but his mouth was taped.

Remembering the earlier events he began to panic, struggling with the restraints and becoming overwhelmed with fear.

Light flooded the room as the door ahead of him slowly opened.

Jack froze when a large, grizzly man stood in the doorway glaring at him.

The man pulled a chair and sat across from jack, his face was hidden by the dark.

"Listen here boy, your gunna answer my questions to my satisfaction or I'm gunna blow your god damn brains all over the wall" He put the barrel of a pistol to jacks forehead.

He flinched at the cold metal and began to shake. The man ripped the tape from Jacks mouth.

"P-please don't h-hurt me." Jacks voice trembled. "What the h-hell were those things."

"You shut up!" He pulled back the hammer on the gun.

Jack flinched and tried steady his breathing.

"Were. You. Bitten?" He said slowly and serious.

"W-what are talking about?! What do you mean bitten? By what?" Jack spit out.

"Answer the fucking question!" The man growled pushing harder

on his forehead.

"No N-no! Please what's G-Going on!?" Jack blurted confused.

"Why are you here?" He huffed.

Jack thought hard but there was no memory of what happened before he woke up on the street.

"I-I don't know why I'm here! I don't know where the hell I am o-or what those things w-were!!" Jack searched his mind for answers.

The man pulled the gun away and leaned back in his chair.

"Do you not know what's going on?

Where the hell have you been for the past three months?" He exclaimed.

"I don't know...the last thing I remember is waking up on the road and that, THAT thing eating someone! Please, what's going on!?" A tear rolled down Jacks cheek.

The man pulled a cigarette from his coat and placed it gently between his lips as he lit the end. The faint orange glow from the cigarette revealed the mans wrinkled, scarred face.

"Well" He paused before continuing, "I'm gunna untie you...but if you try anything, you'll be the one who looses" smoked curled of his dried lip as he spoke.

Jack flinched when the man pulled a knife from his pocket and cut the ties holding his wrists to the chair.

"I'm Adam. You?" He shook Jacks hand nearly crushing it.
