Our eyes met suddenly, and I was in a trance. Everyone else around us didn't matter. It was just me and her. Green eyes poured into brown ones and a faint smile crossed her soft lips as she swept a tangle of dark curls behind her ear.
"Hello." She murmured.
My lips moved to speak, but no sound came out. I was struck speechless...

It all started off like a normal day. Seven AM. Monday.
I rose from my bed and reached high above me, feeling my bones ache in protest and my eyes refusing to open. My voice mimicked that of a zombie as I moaned tiredly, trying to remember where I was.
'Mmm...it's seven, right?'
Meow! I forced one eye open and caught my kitten, Yui, staring up at me, her hazel eyes, big, and pupils round, dilated. Rubbing up against me, she warned me of the time and I sat there for a moment, thinking about nothing in particular before rising from my grave and starting the day.
Well, of course I didn't literally rise from a grave, but it's a Monday, it might as well have.
I trudged slowly downstairs barefooted, Yui in close pursuit as well and turned right into the narrow hallway and entered the kitchen. It was empty as usual. My parents left long ago for work and I was used to waking up to the house being empty and quiet, except for the sounds of the calling birds outside.
Yui gave a soft meow again as I reached for her bag of cat food in the bottom cabinet, bringing her food dish with me. I smiled sleepily and measured the amount out, pouring it into the dish and sitting it down next to the refrigerator. She attacked the porcelain dish delicately, but hungrily, the clinking coming from the tiny silver heart charm on her collar, hitting the material.
"Ah, Yui! Slow down. You'll choke." I mused, patting her head before opening the silver chrome fridge and searching for my own source of nourishment...

After saying farewell to Yui, I locked the front door to my house behind me and stood at the end of my driveway, waiting for my school bus. I was a junior in high school with my learner's permit, but not yet my license.
The sky was overcast and the wind blew ominously. It was late fall and the trees' foliage had already turned yellow, brown and burnt orange. Standing in dark close-fitting jeans and a gray-blue hoodie, I closed my eyes and breathed in the smell of the early morning, exhaling deeply, feeling my own heart beat within my chest. Autumn was a beautiful time of year.
My bus soon came and the long journey to the school began. I took a seat in the near back, away from the other teenagers and proceeded to listen to my own music, putting in my headphones. I turned it to classical and pressed my forehead against the clear glass window, daydreaming...

"Hey! Jaydn! Jaaaydn! What are you doing?"
I opened one eye and found my classmate and also my best friend, Micah, staring down at me, his dark hair hiding his amber eyes from view and him grinning immensely.
I couldn't help but break out into a laugh at his jovial attitude and propped my head on one hand, leaning back against my chair.
"What does it look like?"
"Well...it looks as if you're dreaming of having a fulfilling romance with me behind Peyton's back."
I felt my mouth move into a smirk and I decided to humor him.
