Mommy gives me a warm smile, raising her hand to cradle my cheek and caress my soft brown hair. I instinctively lean into her hand, clinging onto her arm, not wanting to let go. The last time the Germans came to play, mommy left so for so long. I drove myself insane when I was alone in the closet, as I want supposed to leave until mommy came back for me.

I hope the Germans wont keep mommy for busy for too long this time. I would miss her, even if I was a big girl now.

Mommy looks over her shoulder, a worried look plastered into her face. She kneels down, pushes my hair behind my ear, and gently presses her lips against my forehead. " Be brave, Jenna," she mumbles, locking me into the closet.

I hear her departing footsteps, and I slide myself down against the wall, ripping a fluffy coat off the hanger to huddle in. Confusion laces my thoughts. Why do I have to be brave? This is just like the game hide-and-seek that i used to play with my friends. the Germans must be really good at this game.

Pushing the thoughts aside, I curl up, holding the coat tightly against my chest. Like mommy taught me, I send a payer to whoever might be listing, letting myself drift off into sleep, lulled away into the darkness by the sirens and screaming in the distance.
