 ~Chapter 2~

 ~Evelyn's POV~

It was morning and I felt crappier than ever. I didn’t know what happened, but I did remember last night. The room I woke up in was pretty neat. The room was filled with all sorts of books. I picked up a book from the nightstand.

“My favorite” I smiled.

“Yea that’s my favorite too” agreeing, the guy came up to me.

He looked at the blood on my shirt and gave me his to change into. He helped me down the stairs, that’s when I saw all the different types of flowers everywhere in the house. They were so beautiful;  but it made me think about my parent. They died in a car accident 3 years ago, and I would always bring white flowers. So I’ve never looked at the other gorgeous plants.

We finally went into the kitchen. There were two women; one around their early forties and another in her late forties,  a girl that’s seemed to be in her freshmen year, and the last person was a handsome guy that was probably a little older than me. And of course the guy that helped me down the stairs.

On the table was a delicious, mom-made breakfast. It’s been awhile since I had a meal like that, they never made food like this back at the orphanage. The younger looking woman asked if I was feeling better.

“Yea, uhm thanks for the help last night” I answered shyly.

“Oh, meet the family!”

The older looking lady was apparently her mom, Linda, the girl, a freshman, was her daughter Prim, the handsome guy was her son, a senior, was Kenneth, and finally the guy that helped me was Noah, a sophomore just like me, at the same high school. They all moved here over the summer from Washington.

After the amazing meal the lady, Kate said that she wanted to speak with me, so we went into the living room.

“I called the police last night to ask if there were any missing persons. I checked your ID card, Evelyn Kim. You live at the orphanage right?”

“Yes” I whispered shyly. I didn’t like telling people that I was an orphan, I hated the pitiful looks they gave me. But Kate didn’t give me one of those typical oh-i-feel-so-bad-for-you looks. All she did was smile.

“Do you want to live with us? We already have a big family, we will love it if you would join us.”

I just looked at her, I shifted my eyes back and forth, I didn’t know what to say. I didn’t know if I was supposed to be angry or grateful.

“What?”

“I want you to be a part of our family, I know you don’t want to live at the orphanage, so please, come stay with us.”

She was right, I didn’t like the orphanage, and her family was pretty nice so why not? I have nothing to lose anyways. I agreed, under one condition, I wasn’t going to be her daughter; I was only going to be living with them.
