The days that followed seemed to meld into each other. Conrad found it harder and harder to work in the lab, seeing the alien just...being. Every time he looked at her, he thought about how horrible it must be to be caged inside your own body.

Over time he learned more about the institute than he did about the alien. Apprently when the project had first started, there had been around 20 of the world's best and brightest working to uncover the mysteries of the alien. At first, everything went smoothly. All the scientists were happy with the minute discoveries they were making, slowly proving, with what little information they could obtain, that the Alien was more humanoid than they had originally thought. Initially, after the first sedation, X-rays and tests were done to determine the composition of the alien's body. Although the DNA was undeniably different, it appeared the body formed in much the same way. All the organs were in the same place as in humans. It took them weeks to derive what little information they could before the investigation came to a stand still.

When the scientists stopped finding information, something else started, something sinister.

As Conrad read more and more of the director's report, he began to feel like he was trapped in a book.

One day, a scientist walked into the lab claiming that the alien had come to him in his dreams. He claimed that she spoke English and had an accent that sounded almost Russian. The rest of the scientists thought he was mad. He was removed from the lab. But, like a spreading virus, more and more of the scientists started to claim that they were seeing the alien in their dreams. Eventually, a scientist, a woman, reached her breaking point. She brandished a gun in the lab and started screaming about how keeping the alien in a tank like an animal was wrong. She tried to shoot the glass and free the alien but the bullet ricocheted off the glass and she ended up killing one of her co-workers. There was an uproar. The scientists began a riot, killing 7 guards in the attempt to free this alien. As a result, only select few scientists were allowed into the lab after that. These scientists had to undergo tough and frquent psych evaluations in order to see if they were fit to work with the specimen.

Conrad thought on the reverant way in which Doctor Anderson had almost caressed the tank. And then the way that the alien's eyes had fluttered in his presence, her brain activity spiked, and even her heartrate. Could it be possible that the alien could tap into another person's brain waves and subtly manipulate their thought patterns? It was sneaky, but smart. Then another thought accured to Conrad.

If that happened to the scientists after prolonged exposure to the manioulative brainwaves of the alien, and Doctor Anderson had been on this project for months... How close to breaking point could she really be?
