Chapter 1 - Decisions

Gabe had decided enough was enough. He was never the one in the spotlight; it was always his siblings or his father gaining the attention of others. No matter how hard he tried, unless he did rebellious things toward his neighbours or community along side his brother PJ, he was never seen. It was always tough being the middle child, but enough was enough - Today would be the day that he shone.

Gabe approached his mother with nothing on him but a bag full of necessities - his phone, a handheld gaming console in the urgency that he became bored, a few comic books, and a strange translucent purple object that he found in his mother's drawer. As he grew closer to Amy, he saw that she was preoccupied with his youngest sibling, Toby. Toby was Gabe's favourite sibling, as he had been the one to name him, and Toby hadn't exactly done anything to reject him (yet).

"Mom? Can I talk to you for a moment? It's about how I feel and I feel like you're the only person who will understand and be willing to accept me." Gabe called in his usual pre-pubescent voice, hoping to receive an answer that wasn't sarcastic or witty, but to no avail, he had a half-witted remark he once made thrown back at him:

"Teddy told me if I ever heard those words, I should just keep walking."

"You're sitting down..." Gabe internally face-palmed. A look of realisation snuck upon Amy's face as she turned back towards Toby.

"Oh, well look at the time! It's somebody's naptime!" It was funny, considering it was 8am and they had both just woken up.

'Oh well...', Gabe thought, 'I suppose I'll just leave without saying anything...'

And with no further thoughts, or words for that matter, Gabe walked out of his front door.
