A couple hours later, Satoru wakes up again to the sound of humming. propping himself up on his elbow and yawning, he turning his head to the sound."Oh, Satoru, your awake?"
Looking over, his mother is sitting in the chair nearby, quietly scribbling in a small notepad while she ireads through a small stack of papers. It seems that there was a mini desk that had been moved in here for her signifying that this wasn't the first time she had done this.
"Mom? Don't you have work right now?"
Satoru says as he stretched out his arms, joints cracking. He groans, a light shudder coming over him as he wakes up. Turning his head back to his mother as she put down her pen, she answers his question.
"I applied for special permission about half a year or so after your accident to get a desk job so that I could watch and take care for you. I can't stay on paid leave forever you know, Satoru."
"I thought you loved your job as a news announcer though."
She leans over and gives him a gentle kiss on his forehead.
"Not as much as I love you. Now that you have gotten up and I know you will be safe, maybe I will go back to being a news announcer eventually. Are you hungry? I'm sure you are, since you haven't had solid food for a good ten years now."
His stomach takes the opportunity to rumble, and they both laugh.
"We can get you some solid food starting tomorrow. They want you to eat soft foods like tofu and drinks like soup and protein shakes today to test your motor skills. It has been a while since you've even really moved on your own. They were surprised just by how you could move the way you did when you woke up."
He sighs, the thought of solid food making him almost drool, but smiles back.
"It's okay. I can wait."
She laughs and pats his shoulder.
"Alright, I will get them to bring you your meal. If your okay for solid food by the end of the week, I'll bring you out to eat for lunch. I do believe there is something else that you have to pay attention to first though, so I will get out of your hair now."
"Yes! Wait... Plans for the evening...?"
Before anymore could be asked, she leaves, and in comes Kayo in a cute winter dress, the thick wool outer coat with a striking resemblance to snow. Satoru blinks and can't help but stare at the extremely cute and bashful Kayo, who blushes at his mothers comment.
"T-thanks."
She bows to his mother as she leaves. Satoru's mom just smiles before quickly leaving the room. The door closes and she slowly steps closer, seemingly a magnet as Satoru could not keep his eyes off of her. She seems to glow just slightly as the dress ripples, making it seem like she was a fairy dressed in snowflakes. Swallowing nervously as she reaches the bedside, her hand lightly resting on his.
"Hi..."
There is an awkward pause before Satoru remembers to respond.
"H-hey. What brings you here?"
She blushes slightly and pulls her hand back, cutely twiddling her thumbs.
"I-I wanted to talk to you about whats been going on while you were asleep..."
I get a concerned look on my face and I grab her hand firmly
"You can tell me anything Kayo. I'll protect you."
She blushes and covers her face with her hands, shaking her head endlessly.
"No, no, no, its nothing like that! I just wanted to catch you up on what has been going on recently."
"O-oh, okay. Well..."
There's an awkward pause before any of us say anything. Finally, Kayo clears her throat.
"W-well, as I was saying, I wanted to let you know what was going on while you were asleep. Remember that detective stuff you were doing? Kenya kept it up, continuously making sure to look out for people who might be targeted. And we actually caught him, we caught the bad guy."
There is an unnatural chill that creeps into the room. Satoru pulls Kayo close, as if to ward the cold and shakes his head.
"It's alright, you don't have to say more. Just the fact that the the person was caught is all that matters."
She nods and the chill slowly subsides. His mother walks back in seeing us, but doesn't say mention it, turning to Kayo.
"Did you tell him yet?"
"Tell me what?"
Satoru looks at Kayo."Mhmm. Satoru, would you like to go to a dinner meet? We have a class meet that everyone from our class would get together. It's a perfect way to get you caught up to everything. You seem to have woken up just in time for it, it is scheduled to be really soon."
Satoru nods, but a wave of drowsiness washes over him and he slowly passes out, just able to catch their words as they left.
- I didn't tell him. -
-Oh? Well, he will learn soon enough, there is no need to rush.-
He falls into a deep sleep, and doesn't wake up until the next day.
