This project seems like it'll be a complete bore.
A pen pal? May as well be seven again, posting dumb little letters to relatives or something.
Whatever. I'll actually be emailing my partner though, a girl named Phoebe as I've been told. From America, even. She might be remotely interesting, hopefully. Americans have such different customs and way of speaking. It might be fun to even just see the difference in slang and wording.
I swear, I'm not a language geek.
Seems as if she's already emailed me though, a short little blurb that only describes herself to the extent I was already given. Didn't take too long to skim through, so may as well be writing up a reply. She seems quite nice, honestly, maybe even delightfully sarcastic once she opens up a bit more in our correspondence.from: davyjoneslocker@gmail.com

Hello there, my American acquaintance. You were informed correctly, I am David. I see that I was informed accurately as well, given that you elaborated that your name was Phoebe. However, that's beside the point.
As aforementioned, I am David, and I assume that you were also informed that I am, in fact, British. I'm sure we'll find our difference in continent and country quite interesting as our conversations, or at least messages back and forth, continue.
Not to place any pressure on your shoulders, but I do in fact hope that our messages do continue past short blurbs such as the one you have sent and that I am currently writing. I'm not trying to push us into becoming regular friends or anything of the sort (that is up to you to decide, I wouldn't mind either way, even though you do seem like a right nice person), however I do enjoy longer correspondence than most would. If that leads to longer time between emails, I honestly wouldn't mind.
I do hope the formality of my wording isn't too jarring. Sometimes I find it quite hard to be as casual with new people as I'd like to be. No matter what though, if anything I say or happen to do bothers you in any way, please, do not hesitate to mention it, as I do hate annoying people or making them feel uncomfortable.
Do have a good day, and don't rush a reply. I have plenty of time to wait.
Excitedly,
David (I couldn't help myself from replying. Now I only hope that you do.)
