The fifth Inhuman
Katrina's POV
I parked my red Porsche 718 boxster in my usual parking spot, then I sat there for a minute resting my head on the head rest. I reached over to the passenger seat and grabbed my MacBook and all my papers. When I got out of my car I stumbled into the building almost losing all of the papers I held loosely in my arms. I struggled to hold it all with one hand while trying to push the door open, surprisingly I was able to do it and as soon as I was in the building I was greeted by my boss.
"Katrina I need you to work on another article for me," he doesn't really ask me to its more of a demand but in an asking tone.
"What about?" I say as we continue to walk to my desk.
"It's about the attack that happened in an ally between the jewelry store and the animal shelter last night," his hands rest on the edge of my desk as I take a seat and open up my laptop.
"Alright I'll get right on it," I smile at him.
"Call that friend of yours too, she'll know exactly what happened since she was probably checking out the scene," he tells me walking away from my desk.
"Melanie," I blurt out even though he doesn't hear me, "I've told you a hundred times her name is Melanie," I roll my eyes and begin to type. I tap my fingers on the desk thinking staring at the screen that has the words Last Night, typed on my computer, then that's when I decide to call Melanie.
"Hey do you have time to talk?" I ask putting my feet up on my desk.
"Yeah sure what is it," she speaks softly.
"Andrew has me writing an article about the attack in the ally were someone was killed, you get it. Anyways I need you to give me some info on it," there's a little beg in my voice. I hear a long loud groan from the other side of the phone with.
"Ugggg why did you have to tell your boss I'm a CSI agent," she whines.
"Because I can," I sass.
"Okay well the person killed was a lady who was 28 and her name was Julia. She had three bullet holes on the left side of her head. Now here come the weird part, on her back she had what looked like claw marks going all the way down and they're really deep too you can see parts of her spine. We're going to check that out and try and figure out what it was," she finally finished.
"Is that it?" I ask.
"Yes it is," she yawns.
"Okay thank you so much Mel, your a life saver," I smile taking my feet off of my desk and turning back to my laptop to start typing again.
"You welcome, well I need to go I'll see you soon Katrina," Melanie hung up. I started typing up a storm with all the info I had revived from Melanie and added some of my own comments into it too. I decided to stay later than usual just to finish up this article since I was almost finished.
I rolled my chair away from the desk and checked the time, eight thirty. Holy crap I completely lost track of time! I say to myself rubbing my eyes. I print out my article and head to Andrews office. I knock on the door to let him know I'm here then enter into his large office.
"What is it?" He looks up at me and when he sees me his eyes widen, "Katrina what are you doing here still?"
"I lost track of time, but I finished that article you wanted," I drop the papers on his desk.
"Thanks Katrina, but you should be going it's getting really late," he runs his hands through his brown thick hair.
"I know I know, I promise I'll get going but remember when you wanted me to check that thing out on the roof a long time ago? Yeah well I never did it and I just wanted to tell you but I'm going to do it right now I promise," I apologize then head up. As I am standing up on the roof checking the air conditioner I hear something. Katrina, I hear a voice echo. I look around and all I can see is my shadow. Katrina, the voice is getting louder. Katrina run! I look down and watch as my legs run across the roof of the building I watched as I leaped off the side and began to fall towards the ground. I screamed and screamed as loud as I could and when I opened my eyes I saw the concrete sidewalk crushed and I was floating right above the ground. When I was finally safe on the ground I sat there in shock breathing heavily then I called Sage.
"We need to talk," my breathing was slowing down.
